Man calls RCMP from inside his trailer

something else to worry about...
KAMLOOPS, B.C. - More than just a truck and trailer were reported stolen from a hotel parking lot in Kamloops, B.C., early Monday morning.
The thieves also made off with the owner, who was inside the trailer at the time of the theft.
The owner called police immediately to report the crime.
But RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush says officers had a difficult time finding the truck and trailer because the man didn't know where he was.
The owner was eventually able to provide a landmark to help police pinpoint his location.
Mounties say the truck was found a short time later, and while the owner was OK, the suspect or suspects were long gone. (CFJC)

What's this world coming to when even the owner of the tug and trailer is stolen as well. At least he was able to see that everything was ok with his truck and trailer. Lots of time stuff is stolen and trashed.

Not to make light of the situation, but I wonder how the ride was? We've talked about how to find out if an axle needs to be replaced and having someone ride in the trailer under tow (SLOWLY) has been discussed.....

Glad he's safe.

My first thought as well Donna! I remember reading somewhere it wasn't fun...... Some lady recalled a trip where she rode in the trailer as a child and didn't like it, saying she was bounced around.

But having rode in a boat from the launch ramp back to the campsite (over public roads and probably 45/50 mph) I can't imagine it is all that bad. As well as I see very little shift/movement of items I throw in the Casita. I sit something on the floor it is usually in the same spot when I arrive at my Destination.

In Michigan it is legal to ride in a trailer. So, next time you are here, have someone drive you around.

To troll the law and order folks, since it is legal in Michigan, the laws of physics must be just as different there as they are in Europe, or do the trailers go through a re-engineering when they cross the border?

I said legal, not recommended.

At least in the Golden State passengers are allowed to ride in "5th wheel" trailers if they meet certain conditions. Look at the last line (i) in this link:

V C Section 21712 Unlawful Riding and Towing

Does that beg the question: Is a trailer with only 3 wheels still a 5th wheel trailer????

Actually, it is my understanding, that as long as there is a mode of communication, (cell phone) passengers are allowed in fifth wheel trailers in Alberta as well.

It would be nice to be able to say goodbye.

I'm surprised the PC police haven't arrested the owner for
riding in his trailer.

Just what I was thinking. Although I have to admit that sometimes it would be tempting to stick the dogs back there.

Yes it is, because the wheel-and-hub-like fifth wheel hitch mechanism is the "fifth wheel" of the tug, not of the trailer. Yes, I know this falls apart again for tandem-axle trucks...

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.
