Meet Ellpea's LilBea!
She's ours! We went up there and drug her home without a hitch. Well, we did have a hitch, but no issues. She's in great shape and I can't wait to get started tricking her out!

We're getting the Volvo-approved tow-bar and the 2001 V70 will be our TV.
First trip will be to Big Lagoon for Redwood Regatta over Labor Day, but will try to do some "shakedown cruises" before then.
Happy happy!

Looks Great Ellpea....
I see that a p.o. has removed the original tongue box to make room for the dual LP tanks. As tongue weight is a concern for you, and an extra full tank is almost 40 lbs right on the tongue, you will want to consider going back to one tank. And don't worry, one tank is enough capacity for 99% of users. As long as you have a cup of hot water handy, you can find out how much LP you still have in the tank (more later).
And last... that hitch will come with specifications attached that are the specifications for the hitch itself, not for the vehicle to which it is attached.
Nomenclature time: So that everyone else will know what you are talking about.
The "Drawbar" is the removable part with, the ball attached.
The part of the hitch that is attached to the vehicle is usually called just the 'Hitch" and the part that the "Drawbar" slides into is called the "Receiver"
A "Towbar" is usually a device for connecting two vehicles together to be able to tow one with another. We used a Towbar to tow a 1968 Volvo 122 wagon from Pierre(?) SD to San Francisco with our 1965 Volvo wagon.

Thanks Bob, am interested to learn what a cup of hot water will do! I've always had to resort to judicious *knocking* with a knuckle and listening intently. Not perfection, but we can get an idea.
Actually, there are not dual tanks in there; he's installed the battery on the other side. So it's just the one tank and the battery, all kind of concealed by that tongue box thing. So is that box an after-market item? Did the LB originally have a different kind of box?

We do have a large package of instruction manuals and specs which seems very complete. As well as step by step instructions for lighting pilot lights, doing fridge, etc., written out for the *simple* RV'r. I thought I'd read those in detail on the way home, but kind of wound up sleeping. (We stopped to spend the night in Montague with my high school BFF with whom I rode horses all through my teenage years. She's into carriages and Icelandic ponies these days, and took me for a LOVELY carriage ride over a washboarded gravel road. I think my chiropractor will be seeing a lot of me for the next few weeks!) Anyway, the reading up on everything LilBea is a job for today.

Aha! I'd always learned that the "tow bar" is the entire item which hooks onto the frame of the TV. But these items are actually for a vehicle towing another vehicle?
(this is what I've been thinking: the "receiver" is the item with the ball, onto which the trailer "hitch" clamps. The term I've never used is "drawbar," (which in my head has probably been the "ball thingy." I admit that "drawbar" sounds more socially and technically correct!). The "hitch" is part of the trailer, right?)
Thanks for your explanations; I have been somewhat verbally *spanked* here before for using incorrect terminology!

Too, some (including me) call the drawbar a stinger. That has to do with whacking your shin on it!
Congrats Ellpea, looks like a very nice Lil Foot

Thanks, Donna! I'm as giddy as a baby on a swing!
I think in our family we have called the "drawbar" a "bumper poker." My son's little Civic wound up with a drawbar "poke" in both front and back bumpers. Now he pays more attention to what he parks in front of and behind!

That's good news about the tank cover. Originally they had a very nice extended triangular fitted box that held the LP tank, the battery and leveling jacks, boards etc. If you look in my Lil Bigfoot link you will see what I mean. I have seen several of them that were damaged by careless backing and that may have been what happened to yours. You might ask the seller if they still have it laying around.
The part of the hitch on the trailer is called the "Coupler". The entire part on the car is called the Hitch, the female part (?) of the hitch is the receiver. (Without comment)

I forgot to mention:
Pour a cup of very hot water down the front surface of the tank, wait about 30 seconds and run your hand down the tanks surface. The tank will turn cold where the level is at

Or you will see condensation on the tank indicating fuel level.

THAT'S a pretty awesome trick! I have also made note of Glenn's suggestion about condensation. Thanks!
