Wink

First we weren't going to get one, then we were, then we couldn't afford the one we found but really liked so we weren't, then...well, you get the drift. I'd given up pretty much all hope, however, as we have only a few weeks to go before we head out for our big adventure. I'd resigned myself to the tent, which I LOVE, but which I don't love to SET UP/TEAR DOWN daily!

Then the CraigsListing came through! Though it had been WEEKS since I'd responded to his add, the lister of a 1972 Compact Jr. finally dropped me a line Friday. We check it out, picked it up and started in on it Saturday. Hmmm...guess I need to install a hitch on our van now, eh? (oh, and a "few" other things.)

Thanks to all hear who responded to my questions, or to others' questions (I read a LOT on this board).

I have pictures and more details about the trailer here:

JEN--- you did fine. It actually is in quite good condition. Your galley (it's too small to be called a kitchen) looks real nice -- not at all like my project. Good Luck and welcome to our world. LARRY

Thanks, All, for the warm welcome to a Whole New World! (Oh, and Larry, thanks for the "galley" pointer. It's ABSOLUTELY too small to be refered to as a kitchen. On the other hand, it's a huge step toward civilization from our old tenting methods.)

Joe, We live near Santa Maria on the Central Coast of California. (Where are you?) I am originally from San Luis Obispo and have explored (and written about) the area extensively. If you're ever in our neck of the woods and need some pointers about where to go or what to do or see, drop me a note. Maybe we'll tow out to meet you. Hey, once we have this baby set up we might as well get out there and use it!

Cool

Oh, Robin, you should have heard my daughter's disappointment when I sullied her clean counter with my wood shaving from the hand pump installation! But, it gave her another chore she wanted to do. (Too bad it doesn't carry over to housework!)

Jen, there is just something about getting ready for camping. As kid's I remember helping, just so we could take off. Heck, I never minded waxing the boat, so we could go to Lake Nacimiento, The trailer was there at Heritage full time, so as kids that's where we wanted to be all the time. And what ever it took to get there, we were willing. But housework, not so much! I think back to all the stuff my poor Mom had to go thru to go every weekend. Geezzzzzz, I don't know how she did it. It's a lot of work to go camping. But so worth it. Again, Enjoy! Robin
