I've heard the acronym used interchangably with FGRV. See it on the top left corner of every page, searched the archives for the meaning, but still don't know what it stands for.
Anyone care to enlighten me on the meaning and history?
My guess is the Molded Fiberglass R____ Owners Group

Okra is actually a member of the hibiscus family. It has a beautiful flower. Also, it grows in weather so hot not much else can survive, much less thrive.
Back when the website first got started we were just building our "knowledge base" (translation: we posted all kinds of stuff, just to generate discussion). The Okra! topic became kind of a joke, with recipes. Jana J, our resident "smilie creator" fashioned us a dancing okra pod, like the banana, only cuter.
Alas, some of the hilarity of the Okra! topic was lost when the website was hacked last November. We have the oldest posts, but Chester Taje's attempt to buy some okra and cook it "to see what it was all about" is no longer part of the archive. The pics he posted were something... I have never laughed so hard... But, I know you had to be there...

Did "MFROG" start with the okra jokes. Precede it? Come after?

There are some folks who get kinda perturbed about some types of discussions... and one thing about a vegetable...it's perfectly okay to say you HATE it. I mean who could possibly be offended? Okra...love it or hate it...it's okay

Oh, MFROG had nothing to do with okra. When we started, we were calling ourselves the [b]Molded Fiberglass RV Owners Group, trying to come up with an "identity." Kind of a goofy acronym, and it didn't really catch on... especially since our "group" has no organizational structure... unless you consider 1 Webguy, a handful of moderators, and thousands of registered members (some active, many not) "an organization."
We just wanted a place to come together to share ideas and maybe plan a camping trip or two.

Under the MFROG heading on the left-hand side of this screen, the things listed are the "group" type things.
I think it's cool that Webguy set it that way.
And I'm glad you asked, so we could think about it again.

Maybe Webguy could put "Molded Fiberglass RV Owners Group" near the acronym somewhere so the new folks know. Not knowing what it meant kept me from ever referring to it or using it. Perhaps more people would refer to the group as MFROG-I know I will, but don't want it to be a piece of 'inside information' that leaves others out.

That's a good idea. Maybe he will.
Of course, now that we've had this discussion, if ever a new member wonders, all they have to do is Search for "mfrog" and this topic will come up!

I grew some OKRA in our ''containers'' this year and had me a mess of um last night. Yum yum. Boiled them suckers up, put butter, salt & pepper on em and gobbled em down.
Problem is--- you gotta eat a whole one at a time cause they're so slimy you can't get a grip on em to cut em. Yum - yum. Grab one and pop him in.
