More Speed and More Fun

This website has grown way beyond our comprehension. It is nearing 1000 members in less than a year. We are so happy it is meeting so many people’s needs.

New Server
I have moved the website to my new server to insure that we have enough storage and bandwidth.

For the techy types:
Hardware: Specification
Manufacturer: Redundant Dell Computers
Processor: Dual XEON 2.0GHz
Disk Drives: 3x36 GB SCSI in RAID 5
Memory: 1 GB RDRAM ECC
Power Supply: Redundant Hot Swappable

Software: Version
Red Hat Linux: 7.3
SMP Kernel: 2.4.18-5
Apache: 1.3.27
PHP: 4.3.0
MySQL: 3.23.54
Perl: 5.6.1
BIND: 9.2.1
Exim: 3.35

Thank You all for your patience. I think I have all of glitches fixed. If any of you see a problem or glitch, please let me know. I will be happy to do my best to fix it.

We have 1 Gigabyte of RAM and 2 Gigabyte Dual XEON processors. Linux is known for Xtreme speed and multitasking superiority.

I have done a lot of research lately looking for things that will slow down this website. It turns out that many HUGE photos have bloated and clogged the storage and bandwidth.

Photos should not be any larger then 100 KB. With .jpg compression it is easy to make photos 22KB. I found photos over 1,300KB (1.3MB) in the photo directory. All photos over 300 KB have been deleted. I have also decided to delete all duplicate photos. Storage is long term and cost a monthly fee. As you may have figured out, storage only gets larger & larger.

Thank You for your help.

Michael - this is by far my favorite site on the web. It runs great, and is a wonderful place to gather with friends who share a common interest. I appreciate all you have done, and continue to do, to make this work. Thanks so much! Paul
