Many months ago I sold the movie rights to my first novel. Due to secrecy concerns from the producers I had to lay low on the details. But they finally made the official announcement early this morning.

I sold the rights to producer Don Murphy (NATURAL BORN KILLERS, FROM HELL, THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, SHOOT 'EM UP, TRANSFORMERS). He partnered with producer John Wells (TV shows ER, and West Wing, etc.) and the project is in development at Warner Brothers Studios.

It felt good to see the news articles all over the Internet this morning.

Here's a link to the news at The Hollywood Reporter:

Congratulations Bob! You must be really thrilled! Will you be making a cameo appearance in the film?

I looked up "tentpole" on Wikipedia:
<blockquote>In the world of motion pictures and television programming, a tent pole is a production which, with heavy promotion, and probably carrying a large investment, is expected to hold up (as is the function of a tent pole) and balance out the performance of a movie studio or television network. . . In the movie business, tent poles are sometimes widely released initial offerings in a string of releases and are expected by studios to turn a profit in a short period of time.

</blockquote>So, that's a good thing. Let's hope that it gets made. Bob, do you get more money if it is successful?

Ron

Thanks everyone!

If they allowed me to, yeah I'd do a cameo.

Everything seems to be coming together. When we first sold the rights, my agent told me that the principal producer, Murphy, has a reputation for following through with the properties that he options. And since then everything has fallen together just so. It looks good at this point for actually seeing it through to the screen.
