My Day at Scamp - Backus, MN

I had the day off so I thought I would bring our Scamp to Backus to have them do some things to it. It took me about 2 hours to get there... 9 AM. Originally I was going to just have them put the plastic vent cover on & touch up the caulking around it but they suggested to do some other things. I went & had a awesome breakfast at a gas station cafe near by while I waited.

I think tipping the guy a little helped me out but I really think he was just a nice guy & went out of his way to do a great job & also did some extra work & didn't charge for it.

Also... after I mentioned I wanted a new ice box he said they had a used one that was like new & I got it for less than half new.

Most of my rivet caps were bad or missing. He put in new rivets & caps... (had a guy help on the inside) new foam around the door. He fixed some sagging in the rat fir & offered to put wood trim around my new fantastic fan but when my buddy installed it with wood supports under the rat fir so the wood trim wouldn't attach how it correctly.

I also bought a new tire cover.

The people at Scamp were genuinely VERY nice & visited with me about anything I wanted to talk about.

It was interesting how they would be so meticulous when preparing a mold... (in red ) he would slowly wet sand & inspect & wet sand.....

If you get a chance or are in the Backus area... stop by & see them.

Here are some pictures.

Every visit has been a pleasant experience for us as well, everyone at Scamp has treated us as welcomed guests and friends. We never miss a chance to visit that same plain old country restaurant either.

That is interesting how they put those ridge supports in the fiberglass to make it stronger. something to think about when we got into the "mod" mode and start cutting holes for access hatches.
