My Husband's Scamp Neighbors

My husband met the husband of the other 5th wheel Scamp staying in his campground. Turns out the couple are from South Carolina and they spend their summers going to county court houses. This summer it is North Dakota. They get a stamp from the county clerk then he uses his metal detector to find a coin in the court house lawn as a souvenir.

When they run out of money, they work at Wal-Mart until they have money to travel. Get this. They would be on the road all the time until they get a decent price for their home which by the price is alot nicer then the scraper I am living in. He is 75 and their top speed in 45 mph which is all the faster they want to go. My husband told him we pull ours at 80.

My husband suggested we should do this when I RETIRE and I can drive. My reply: Why? So you can spend time in your hospital bed in the trailer?<_<

I like these people. Well, court house stamps wouldn't be my own passion but that's so cool they're following theirs and probably having an outstanding time along the way.

I collect post office cancellations. Buy a postcard, go in to the Post Office and ask the clerk to please hand cancel it. I got static from one clerk one time. She phoned her boss and she learned that it is o.k. to cancel a postcard even if it isn't addressed or ready to send out. I use these postcards to go into my family travel records. Marg

I hope they don't cause too many accidents from frustrated drivers trying to pass them. If they tried that around here I'm afraid they would collect a lot more than just coins and stamps.
What tires do you have on your camper? Mine have a top speed rating of 65. Until I found this out I kept up with the flow of traffic on the interstates, which is between 75 and 80 around here. I was quite upset and relieved at the same time when I realized how I had been exceeding the speed rating with no apparent harm having been done. I've been looking for 14" trailer tires with a higher speed rating.

I put the equivalent of a D rated 14" Light Truck tire on mine. The Maxxis UE-168 in the 205R14C size (the C is for commercial) has a 2271 pound load rating at 65 psi. The speed rating is a lot faster than I want to run - excess of 90 mph as I recall. Love 'em
