My Scamp

I finally took some pics of my “new” scamp--a 1996 Deluxe 16'. It is perfect in every way, except for my first major mishap.... My daughter and I were trying to get the side dinette table down into a bed, and it wouldn't quite fit between the seats, so we thought it would go with a little forcing and I sat on it!! Big mistake. It broke. I've just called the factory, which fortunately is just a couple hours from me, and they said they could make me a new one for around $60, which seems reasonable since I really don't have any other options.... but anyway, it's in such good shape that everyone thinks it's new! Still can't believe I was lucky enough to find it!... so.......... here she is!! (I hope this works--it's the first time I've uploaded photos...)

Hi Michele! Nice looking rig!

Since it's finally warmed up in Hibbing (we've been there several times) ... where's the first campout gonna be?

uploading photos - maiden voyage

Thanks for taking out the glitches! Don't know what happened... I'd just gotten off night shift...:xx (great excuse--works every time, teehee :wink)..... Barring unforseen delays (like not being able to get my brakes and lites wired in time...), the maiden voyage will be the 2nd weekend in June, at Norway Beach, a beautiful campground near Bemidji on Cass Lake (forest service, I think...), with eldest son (yesssss :thumb), his boat, my daughter, and 5 year-old grandson. I've always said, God made big strong sons for a purpose.... since he's driven and towed everything from semi's to heavy equipment, he'll show me the ropes, give me some towing lessons and troubleshoot :helpme (not that I expect anything to go wrong of course... yeah, right... haha.... no way... :nope.... I've already broken the dinette table... :weep)... Hopefully I won't back it into my flowerbeds, the neighbor's garage, or the lake....:omy , haha.... Michele:newbie

Nice

Nice Scamp...very similar to mine on the outside. I wish I had an AC like that. What is that tube like thing mounted on the front? I have often wondered what these are since my '94 doesn't have one.

I know! I know!!

The tube is for storing the drain hose for the black and/or gray water holding tanks.

the draining hose

That's exactly right! Where do you keep the hose with no tube? And while I'm at it, I still have to flush the anti-freeze out of the system. I connect the hose (water hose) to the city water connection.... then do I open the sink and shower faucets and run the water through? Where does it come out? Do I open the grey water tank outlet? How about the water heater? How does that get flushed out? Does water automatically go thru it from the fresh water hose? Does the water heater have a separate outlet that I have to open? Told you I'm a newbie.... Michele

Owners Manual

Hi Michelle

From all of your questions, it sounds like you need to read the owners manual. The owners manual covers winterization, towing, electrical system and more! If you did not get one with your trailer, you can read the one that came with my 2000 Scamp 16 on-line at my web site.

owners manual

Thanks Dan.. I will do that. I have some kind of manual that came with mine, and several manuals for the different components, but really nothing that is written in plain english and lays things out in a way that is easy to understand. I will go to your website and see what's there.... :thumb thanks again... Michele

Owners manual

WOW! Thanks again, Dan... this is WAY more info. than what came in the packet that the guy I bought my trailer from gave me. I think it must have been missing the main owners' manual. I thought there must have been more than what I got. My deluxe is a 1996, but i don't think there've been that many changes. I'll bet your manual with be just fine. Again, many thanks.... Michele:sporty
