Trailer: Love Bug / Chevy Astro
Posts: 225

Come on people, ANY FGRV can be brought back to life. My Love Bug was almost that bad with 2 coats of latex house paint, mold, mildew, rotten floor, bad axle, broken frame, gutted with everything stacked inside and windows removed.
WAIT A MINUTE, did I repair the Love Bug or build a new one?

Did I rescue it?!? Oh, Lizbeth, if only you could see this one! There was actually a big weed growing out of it from the INside!
No, I trespassed to take pictures of this one while Ken was in the truck, waiting to be arrested. I mentioned it here on the forum before it was hijacked and gave too much information about it. We've been expecting the FBI or somebody to come to our door ever since. Now that the information is no longer available, I feel safe enough posting the pics.

Of course, I did happen to mark the location on my GPS if anybody is interested.....

Here's the hitch

Look familiar????????? Maybe from a past life.

Saved these from an e-bay ad thread before the big hijack. Front Kitchen, shower in front left corner similar to Surfside.

Interior photos available if your intersted, never did find out the make. It also has a molded underside.

The features which I notice in Charlie's eBay unit, which seem to match the mystery trailer (where the applicable parts can be seen...) include:
  • no front window
  • Bargman L-400 (or similar) door latch - like my Boler but unlike a Scamp
  • rectangular tail lights (not recessed)
  • belly area looks more like a Trillium-style joint (or even current Scamp) than the flanged style of joint on my Boler 1700
  • the frame runs straight out to the coupler - aren't most 13' units stepped up from frame level to coupler level?
  • and of couse the relatively squared-off back, with an almost lip spoiler effect at the top
The back end shape and seam design suggest an update of the Boler design to me, rather than a really old variation. I assume the "special" windows and the gate hinges on the door (how can that not bind?) were added by an owner.

While this particular unit is in spectacularly sad condition, I personally like the shape better than the typical 13' egg. And speaking of the shell, it does look intact, so if one were building a new frame, floor, and interior - and replacing all of the windows, appliances, and furnishings - this might be a perfectly good starting point!

So what is it?

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

Sorry for the delay-- computer operator problems.

This logo is the only identification as to the brand. Has anybody ever heard of it?

Have never heard of that make, but I am quite sure that your photos are of the same make of trailer as the 2 that I posted. the construction details of the window frames, door, rear roofline, beltline and bumper appear identical.

Now let's see whats hidden behind label # 2 under the rear belt line

Is there a manufacturers ID and serial # tag that your holding back from us????

There is a "Yurpeen" company called Elldis that makes a trailer called a Wisp, and funny coincidence you show what appears to be a "Yurpeen" style cast hitch with "overturn" linkage and handle.
