Adrian, is the list posted elsewhere. Unless you are a member of the Casita Forum, you can't see it.

PS Canadian National Parks should be counted in, I have been to a few on both sides of the 49th.

Thanks for posting this, easy to copy and keep as a check list.

There is a list of National Monuments on Wikipedia with great photos: National Monuments

Also a Wikipedia list of parks and monuments at: National Parks This link also has national historic sites, military sites, battlefields, memorials, seashores, recreation areas and disbanded sites in all these categories
(how does a place become disbanded? )

It is great to live in a country that preserves so much of it's history and natural beauty! (hope that doesn't sound political!)

Growing up we went to so many historic sites on the east coast I can't remember them all.
My park and monument list is short and I hope to grow it!

Parks:
Crater Lake (OR)
Mount Rainier (WA)
North Cascades (WA)
Olympic (WA)
Redwood (CA)
Waterton-Glacier (MT)
Acadia (ME) (as a kid)

Monuments:
Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument (WA)
Giant Sequoia (CA)
John Day Fossil Beds (OR)
Statue of Liberty

And other national preserves.....
Boston National Historical Park
Independence National Historical Park (as a kid)
Lewis and Clark National and State Historical Parks-Ft. Clatsop (WA/OR)
San Juan Island National Historical Park (WA)
Valley Forge National Historical Park (as a kid)
Saint Paul's Church National Historic Site (NY) (as a kid)
Gettysburg National Military Park (as a kid)
Lake Chelan National Recreation Area (WA)
Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area (WA)
Ross Lake National Recreation Area (WA)
Cape Cod National Seashore (as a kid)
Cape Hatteras National Seashore (SC) (as a kid)
Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve (WA)

Mike's list would include Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Bryce, Arches and Zion and a few more national monuments, before marriage!

For a complete list of all National Park units (there are 391!) check out the Park Service website http://www.nps.gov/
This includes National Parks, Monuments, Battlefields, etc, etc, etc....
I consider myself very lucky in that I get to visit a National Park every day that I go to work, I work on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's a beautiful place, a 469 mile long road connecting Shenandoah and the Great Smokies, with lots of overlooks, campgrounds and historic areas to visit along the way. (Oh no...I'm starting to sound like an advertisement!)...but seriously, a great place to visit!

Of that entire list, I've only visited 23...I think I need to do a little more travelling!!!
