Smile New 72' Boler Owner

We just picked up our boler on Aug 21 2010. It's a 72' Boler which has been redone on the inside unlike any I have seen. The wife fell in love with it the minute she saw it. After a month it was ours , although we had to drive 500 km to view it. It was exactly what we where hoping. Exellent condition, with 110V wiring only. Many thing removed from stock, ex: gas stove, original location of sink, faucet, fridge and heater. I have since, rewired 110V, installed a 12V converter and installed a 12V battery with cutoff switch. It sleeps two and maybe a third with a fold out cot (still on progress). The gentleman who did all the work was moving away and couldn't take it with him. Looking forward to many years of use. Let me know what you think...
Cheers

Happy to see that the Pine Cone went to a happy new owner!
We have watched the progress of this cute trailer on the forum and watched her go up for sale too!
Good luck and have fun!

Hi Emily!
Thank you for the welcome. And yes, the pine cone is still hanging from the vent chain. We are stunned by the detailed workmenship every time we set foot in it. All we can say is "I love it".
Cheers!

Hi Cindy
It has been from the Ottawa area and Barrie area so far. Planning to do a lot of traveling with it though.

We all enjoyed watching the Pine Cone come together. Glad it got a happy new owner. Searching old threads might find you more pictures and some construction details.
How about bringing it to the Niagara Winefest gathering this weekend?

What I have done since Aug 21 2010

1) replaced taillights with LED lights
2) complete rewire 12V interior and exterior
3) added 12 converter
4) added 3 12 volt lights
5) added 3 110V outlets
6) made new table
7) New Cushions and are being recovered as we speak
8) replaced storage seat tops with lexan instead of wood
9) replaced potty
10) silicone the screws and holes on body
11) added spare tire rack on back bumper
12) added 12V marine battery (where gas tank was on tongue)
13) replaced outside door lock. (L handle type)

We are challenged now with
1) replacing inside lock/latch (missing)
2) reinforcing spare tire rack
3) adding 2 x 12V outlets
4) building a third cot for our son on those cold night
5) adding an awning with attachable sides (this is an excellent resource for that)
6) complete body and paint. (need to find someone local for a quote)

Any info you have on this list would be helpful. will keep the "pine image" in every change i make. I guess there is always something we want to do to make things our own
with these little trailers. I Keeps us busy.
Cheers everyone.

Hi lespnd, and congrats on your new Boler

You may have used the term "silicone" generically to refer to caulk, but if you are using silicone, I just want to mention that it is terrible stuff around any kind of body or paint work. It leaves a nearly-inpenetrable residue that absolutely repels any attempts to remove it or paint over or near it.

I realize that the horse may be out of the barn on many of your sealing projects, but it sounds like you have more to do, so maybe you can avoid the problem on your yet-to-do projects.

When you go to remove the existing silicone (prior to painting), be aware that it is easy to spread the contamination around with something like sandpaper. It's better to try to remove as much as you can "in isolation."

Sorry to sound negative, but silicone brings it out in me

Raya

Congratulations! You have got yourself quite a trailer there.

Too bad about the wood stove idea, many of us were intrigued by the idea but I can understand not wanting to do it.

This is great! Often members here have an affection for a particular trailer and an owner. When the trailer is sold we lose both the member and the trailer. I'm glad you decided to join us! We'll all follow your travels and the new improvements to the trailer too!!
