new Escape

I must apologize. I bought a new Escape trailer, but it is not an egg...

It's a KZ Spree Escape E14RB. 16' long, with fiberglass gelcoat sides but an aluminum roof. Brand new for under $10K. The door is near the back. As you go in there's a closet on the left, then a rear bath with small tub/shower. The curb side has a gaucho, the street side has the galley. Front is a dinette, which we'll leave as a bed... 55"x81". The interior is all paneled and the cabinet doors are smoky glass. It looks rather upscale to me. I took this photo yesterday on our maiden voyage, in Petit Jean State Park (Arkansas).

I'm sorry for my disloyalty! Can you ever forgive me?

You do what you have to do and what's best for your needs. We know budget and size is more important to some than having ownership of an egg.

We won't slam you for now having to deal with seams

I have to admit, at first I thought you meant a TRUE ESCAPE, not a pseudo one

Catch you down the road!

I'm just picking at you but lets see it in 40 years. I thought I would have to give up on the egg too, I started looking at cargo conversions and old Shasta's and the like, but one sleepless night I told myself it would be an egg or nothing at all.

Looks nice, Mike. The interior shots are very welcoming. My only concern would be the multi-use table/bed. We had this same problem with our 13' Burro until I made the front bed/table into a full time eating area and the back table/bed became a full time bed. With your setup, you don't have this option. You may need some TV trays so you can eat at the couch! (We actually eat more outside in our screen house anyway, even with our bigger 16' UHaul trailer.)

Anyway, congratulations and enjoy the new rig!

Yeah, I had that coming!

Thanks for the comments. It seems I have seams, all right. But I enjoy the looks and the layout. And the much smaller payment! Well, I could have had the same payment with a Scamp or Casita... if the latter were about 10 years old.

As far as eating, I sometimes sit in the recliner at home to eat... it doesn't seem like the end of the world to eat off the lap. But I'm keeping an eye out for the right tv tray or small folding table, just to have it if I want it. On this week's camping trip to Petit Jean State Park I was alone, and I found that it was also easy to sit on the bed with a plate on the countertop. My previous Burro had the small dinette in front so I know what that was like, and I am not really missing it... the gaucho suits me better.

Congrats, they are real nice. I went in one recently. Wife liked the glass cabinet doors. I did too. You get a lot for 10 grand thats for sure, looks really fun and easy to tow.

Hey Greg,

I won't be around in 40 years, so if that unit fit my needs I would sure go for it.
Really nice looking.

Enjoy it Mike and keep active here.

Congrats! Mike. I like the looks and the layout and a very nice size as well. Should do you well. Enjoy.

PS: I'd enjoy a bed that size; compared to the one in our Scamp for sure. And with a a gaucho on the side as well. Very livable.

Hope you keep active here as well. To keep from being confused with the Escape Eggs, might want to list it as a SPREE ESCAPE. Cool name as well.

How is the shower? From the photo of it on the web site, it looks really nice.

Thanks all for your kindness. I won't be a stranger... even if I am strange!
It's easier to post KZ's shower picture than to take one of my own... it looks just the same anyhow.

The shower works fine; I took a shower in it and it felt good. I thought I might have to wipe the paneling down afterward, but when I checked it I found that it had shed almost all the water already and what remained were a few fine droplets all beaded up. I just let it go.

I found a wastebasket that fit nicely alongside the toilet (the side away from the tub), and it doesn't tip over when traveling.

Are those pictures accurate? All PINK inside?
(I hope it's just bad white balance.)

I don't see pink, I see beige/tan... maybe it's the color settings on your monitor? Mine is set for millions of colors...
