And I don't think Escape uses sheet metal screws. They use Robertson wood screws, widely available in Canada since they are superior to Phillips.
Oh der, I guess travelling with it in the "up" position would be the simple way to deal with it!

As regards the superiority of things Canadian, I will only say that there are things to admire as well as troubles to be found anywhere we go in this world my friend. Though, perhaps, you have seen evidence of some particular challenges we are facing here south of the 49th of late, no?

In the end, as a simple citizen, I am left to use my inferior sheet metal screws and to suffer along as best I can. However, I do treat the pre-drilled pilot holes with super-glue to strengthen the wood before driving the fasteners; does that count for anything?!

I don't know because I don't have the expertise ( although I have a lot of screws, just not the one I need ).

Hi: Glenn Baglo... All I know is... it's faster to drive to the hardware store and buy a new package of screws, than it is to go downstairs into my workshop to look for one!!!
BTW... Congrats BatDude!!!

Bat Dude just reread your post. If you live at Canadian Lakes you’re not that far from my Escape 19 just two miles west of M37 at Newaygo.

Hi Alf, that sounds like my work shop! Sometimes when I finally straighten it up, I find out that I end up with two or three of everything. Oh well at least my hardware store guy likes me

Very nice, congrats Batdude! We truly love our 19 and we're sure you'll enjoy yours too.

Speaking of bats, Bracken Cave is about 4 miles east of us. Largest Mexican Freetailed colony in the world. Ever get down to South Texas? Watching them leave to feed at dusk is an amazing sight.

Hi Robert,

Yes been there and done that. Quite a spectacle of nature... starts out with ~ million females in a maternity colony and the population doubles when they all have their pups.

Question...

Do you use an anti-sway bar on your 19?
ETI sent the correct load leveling hitch but missed attaching the anti-sway bar we ordered, so they refunded the difference within about 2 minutes of bringing it to their attention.

I will add one later if needed.

Rally????

So BatDude are you going to the rally in Algonac state park with your new Escape?

As we used to say in Belize... "mi no know"

Did not know about the rally, or when it is.

We have our first shake down trip after Labor Day. Petoskey State Park, then Alpina then south to Tawas the home. So a trip to the Sunset coast tot eh Sunrise coast.

Congrats on the new trailer! Sounds like you already have travel plans for the same time as the Algonac rally at Algonac State Park in eastern MI. It runs Sept. 7-9 and usually has about 25 FG trailers of all types.

Congrats on the new trailer!

There are 2 rallies that might tie in with your shakedown trip.

The latter is guaranteed to have some knowledgeable Escape owners.

I know it's a small detail but I really like the maple leaf spare tire cover. Such a classy national symbol, clean, simple but evocative. I may someday have to buy an Escape or Boler so I can have a maple leaf on my own trailer.

Algonac Glassic Egg Scramble

Bat Dude, there will be about 35 campers (correction: 41 trailers) at the Algonac Glassic Egg Scramble this year, at least four of which will be Escape 19's! Would love to meet you there and chat about bats too!
