Hi folks, just checking in with a bit of an intro. Wife and I retired in 2001 after 30+ years of active service with the USA/USCG settling in OKC. We routinely travel with many friends on a Gold Wing motorcycle pulling a Bunkhouse pop up camper but made a trip down to Rice, TX on 1/5 to place our order on a 17' Casita LD. Talked to the sales rep this morning and she indicated that 26 April is my date but there is some chance of an early delivery. Consequently, we are reasonably confident (we hope we hope) of taking possession of our new baby in time to make it down to the Bluebonnet Rally. We are well versed at travel and camping and look forward to the Casita as it will be a nice "step-up" in comfort. Hope to see some of you guys in the days ahead for food, fun and fellowship.

Congrat's on your new purchase! I am sure you guys will find it a step up in comfort. Though those little bike pop up's are so cool, but I think you will find your new Casita waaaaaaaaay cool! Enjoy!

Hello Rick & Gloria,
Like you, I am waiting for my new Casita to be built. Likewise, I have been an avid motorcyclist for 40 years. It seems many of us here and on the Casita forums ride motos. Something about "less is more" type of adventure perhaps, although your Goldwing and my BMW R1200RT can't really be considered minimalistic!

Hey, tks guys for that resounding welcome to this little corner of ciber space. We are so looking forward to hooking up to the egg and do some scrambling down the road, and no, I won’t be towing with the Gold Wing as she will remain in the barn awaiting her turn. Of course the old pop up may have a longer stay what with nothing to offer but a dry roof and a honey pot – baugh!! Hey Doc, ya might want to consider that 4-5 month delivery wait. Casita is putting on another crew soon but that I think is primarily to deal with the Spring/Summer rush. Personally, the delay is realllllllllllly draggin and it’s only been a couple of weeks. Again, thanks for the welcome aboard and we look forward to meeting soon.

Thanks Rick, . Being Recently Retired, I'm Now In The Process Of Trying To Get All Of "My Ducks," In A Row. The Last Time I Talked With Carla Poarch, At Casita, She Related That The "Wait Time," Is About Two Months, And, Possibly, Six Weeks. However, That Was About Two Months Ago. I've Just Put My House On The Market, And, Would Like To Sell It, Before Ordering The Casita. However, You Know How Sluggish The Housing Market Is. I'm Really Looking Forward To Getting "On The Road." Hopefully, I'm Planning On Ordering A 17' Spirit Deluxe With Options. Rick, I May Be A Little Later Than You And Gloria, Getting On The Road, But I'm Coming. Maybe, After Getting Your New Egg, You Can Let Me Know How It Is Going. Keep Looking For Me, And Don't Give Up On Me. Ed.

You bet Doc. I retired in 2001 at the ripe old innocent age of 51 and have been practicing what I preach with all due diligence . Just keep repeating "Everyday Is Saturday, Everyday Is Saturday" and in no time you'll be a real pro at the finer art of perpetual relaxation.

I was lucky and was able to retire in August at the young age of 52. I got my Casita just before Christmas and it was a step up from a teardrop. Life is good. The Casita has been great.

Rick, I live near Ft. Smith, Ar. so not far from you.
