New prices

You folks who have purchased or priced a new 13' Scamp or Casita, etc., what is a basic new price to expect? Used pricing is replete on the internet but what do new units cost? Thanks, Scott

That probably has more to do with time and distance than money. I would definitely look to buy something used, rather than drive all the way across the country to purchase new. Having a trailer shipped also adds to the purchase price. I'd rather spend my money under tow going somewhere to camp. Others opinions may differ tho.

Hi: All... Buying our trailer "gently used" and only 2hrs. from home was a BIGGIE+. The fact that we got the tow truck too; didn't hurt either!!!

Seeing the prices of the used ones actually helped me to buy my Casita! The prices for used ones were just not that much different from a 'fresh' one. That means that they seem to hold their value.

Also, I live in Texas, so the pick up costs were not that great for me.

In comparison, I started by looking for a simple pop-up camper. Used ones were dirt cheap (for a reason!). Casitas hold their value and for the marginal diference of the new one, I got a warantee to boot.

I think for us, besides love'n road trips, If I would have had a patience to wait for a new one, I don't think it would have been much more than what I paid for a 2007. Plus I would have gotten all the options I wanted, like flooring, versus carpet (I am not a carpet on the floor fan). Would have gotten the awning just so I don't have to mess with it now. Not that I don't love our Casita, I would have just had more options put on than what came with the one we bought.

Totally agree Gene about them holding their values, I think that holds true for most if not all fiberglass eggs. Cause I see some older ones that are probably selling for more than original price. I would love to know what some of the 60's era eggs sold for originally. It's not to say that they are not worth it, As my Dh has said forever, It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay.
