New-To-Me 1977 Surfside

Hello! I just purchased a Surfside, and am so excited to make it my own. It's pretty much bare bones.

I'm looking for help with renovations and finding parts:

First off,ISO a rear taillight....any guesses on where to find one?

Also...it's soft over my window (rear right) and am nervous to just start pulling things apart. Am I in for a big job? Also...the front door step is mushy. Which are the lesser of two evils? Oh where to begin...

Thank you in advance for your guidance!! Click image for larger version

welcome! looks like a beauty! congrats!
I had to buy 3 new tires when I first bought my egg so I understand where you're at. if its been sitting around awhile its a good idea either way.

the best advice I got when I bought my egg was to use it first, then do mods. he said so many people start ripping things out then loose heart & they never got to enjoy it. I've been lucky & no big(ger) problems like you may have. the experts here can guide you thru that.
til then, enjoy!

"Soft" and "mushy" are subjective, but typically not good. How soft and how mushy makes a lot of difference, though. It typically implies rot. So you could need anything from a complete floor replacement (holy crap huge project) or nothing at all, depending on how bad it is.

My Bigfoot floor has a couple soft spots. So long as I don't let any more water get to them, I figure they will never need to be addressed. But it just depends...

Nice trailer! That thing looks like a lot of fun.

Will a piece of plywood placed on the floor that has support on all sides adress the floor problems without tearing things up. I guess the hard part would be managing the extra height at the entry door.

Welcome to another Ontario-an. I've recorded 215 'Currently Active' ON participants on this website. You do have a 'beauty' in your Surfside - congratulations!
You do need to properly assess the 'mushy-ness' before you start into major floor repairs. But, we are all awaiting your assessment. If you're close to Stratford, you might want to take the trailer in to Paul Neumeister at A-! Auto in Sebringville. He's a great 'guru' on FGRV's, and a handy source for many parts, and TT advice.
