Great news! After months of refining, testing, and a little old-fashioned cussin’ we’ve got the new program ready to bring on board.
Every effort has been made to incorporate the old with the new. Our plans are that the old site and the new one will just merge. That would mean that we could save all of the old posts and your registrations. Nothing to do but just sign on as you normally would. Same address and everything, so you shouldn’t even have to change your favorites.
There will be a few changes. For the most part, they are good. Very good. The system is more stable and reliable and, as we all know from this past weekend, that’s a good thing.
There are a couple of differences that we just can’t seem to tweak out. One is that we can only post one picture at a time. The picture will appear at the end of the post. Which is okay, except now we won’t be able to bring in all those adorable smilies from the outside and interject them into our posts. I know, I know…it really bummed me out, too. You can still put them in, but they will appear as a picture. We are updating our smilies and adding a few new ones.
Another thing that we cannot accomplish is the transfer of the personal messages (PMs). If you have any that you've been saving for future reference, you will need to download them to your own computer. The new system does have personal messaging, but we cannot take the old ones with us.
There are a few trade offs, but we have worked very hard to make this site as friendly as the old one and to incorporate the old forum into the new one.
You, our members, are very important to us. Without you, we would not be who we are. Therefore, we have made a concerted effort to make this change as painless as possible. There are a few things that cannot be accomplished until the merge has taken place. Once it does, we are set to go into action to quickly make these changes.
Soon, very soon, we will have a new face. But inside, we will still be the same.
Remember: copy the PMs you want to save and jot down a couple of e-mail addresses for contacts. We do not anticipate any problems, but we are ready to handle them if they do occur.
