Whoa, that is some photo. You might need to delay a while.

I read that part of the reason the Great Lakes froze so completely was they never recovered from last year. Last year when in Newfoundland there was more ice than anyone had seen in 85 years with many northern harbors full of what they called 'slob ice'. Maybe in some measure this is a hangover from last year.

Normally you only see icebergs in the spring, a couple of our RV friends saw a few icebergs in August.

Ginny says maybe we can be Newfie ice road truckers.....

I'm forever talking about our wanderings and how they are like being young again, lime summer explorations. Here's a video...in the middle it says "like being 9 again".

If this video doesn't make you feel good....

Great stuff folks!

If this ice is left over from last year, the arctic cold we've been getting this year is just not stopping. We're getting walloped again over the next week as arctic air swoops down into the states from Canada. That must be keeping this ice from disappearing.

I could really use a touch of spring!

People have been getting too used to this period of warmer weather that we have experienced during recent years, and have forgotten the winter conditions that were typical of previous times. Now that we are again moving back into a period of colder and longer winters, we need to expect to have to live with these cold and wintery conditions on a more typical basis once again.

Frank,

Come to Florida, high of 87 today. Last night we did a St Patrick dinner/dance, Then a group hopped in the pool for an hour or so (though it usually closes at dusk). Today I'm a tired 72, 3 hours of dancing can wear you down... but we had a great time.

This year we've taken up line dancing, usually only women sign up for the lessons but I paid for a group of men's first lersson and they were all hooked..now we have a great coed line dancing group... of course on occasion we get way out of sync with much associated laughter. Life is good at 72...though most of our friends are younger we can keep up.... Rvers are fun.

I'd love to Norm, but am stuck behind a desk for another couple years. I agree, RV'ers are fun!

Take care,

Frank

Thanks for posting Norm. The ferry website gave us a laugh:
"Marine Atlantic advises customers that due to severe ice conditions in the Cabot Strait, customers may experience an extended crossing time causing a potential impact on our schedule." Not sure what their definition of 'extended crossing time is' since the spring thaw looks to be late in coming this year!

Extended Cruising Time"

We only take the short ferry to/from Newfoundland (6 hours). Even in no ice conditions I know the Long ferry, 15 or so hours, has taken 48 hours without ice. Some RVers go over on the long ferry, drive across the island and come back on the short ferry. Instead we may drive across the island but always come back for the short ferry.

These ferries are really ocean liners and comfortable inside.
