Nooooooooooo, Snow!!!!!

Awwww, but they are saying we are gonna get it.. Suppose to be a pretty big storm headed our way. And problem is, my Casita has never been in snow before! Ever! It's always been tucked in the barn, sold the house that had a barn and moved but the covered storage at the new house isn't finished being built yet. So the Casita is parked at a friends house (outside) all by it's self...........

What should I do to prepare it for up to a foot of snow? Any suggestions? Do I tarp it? Or just let it get a cold bath? I know this is just a normal thing for many, but my baby has never been exposed to this type of weather before, so I am at a loss as to how to keep her safe........... Help!

Don't panic Mine sits out all winter. A foot of dry fluff is no big deal, however this time of year dry fluff is rare. Wet slop is more the norm. I use an 18" push broom to push or pull it off. If it's wet, I do it every inch or two as needed. Raz

Mine too sits out all winter in the snow. No big deal. If it is wet and heavy like Raz mentioned, it would be wise to brush it off.

I don't have A/C but it seems to me that if it will take a driving rain as you travel down the road, a little snow won't be an issue.

That picture was taken at Manatee Hammock in Titusville, it's a nice spot, stayed the last two weeks of February.

mine has been out the last 2 winters in nh. casita told me to brush it off...especially if wet and heavy

i see neighbors covering their campers...and i saw a scamp with a little blue plastic boat(i guess the shrink wrap ppl made it) on top...im guessing the snow just falls off the top...its shaped like a steep roof

mine has done really well. i am concerned about mold cuz i am sensitive. but so far it has been just fine.

do others have experinces with covering causing mold? or the opposite.

Hey Robin

I wouldn't worry about it. There are a couple of Casitas in the neighborhood (all with A/C) that set out all winter with no problems. The snow should be gone in a couple of days.

Just sit back with a hot cup of cocoa and watch the beauty of late winter out the picture window.

As you can see in my pic, mine has handled deep snow. Just don't let it pile too high on top-the top will flex! (mine is now in a carport)

Ok Spring I give up, you can show up any day now. Just as a reminder it is Apil 7 (6 days past April fool's) & we still have 15" of compacted snow to melt. With forcasted lows in the 20's & a high of 35 for this week we'll either need more patience or a trip south....

Thanks everyone! Just first time jitters............ Usually it's nice a dry in the barn, I say barn but more like a really really big garage. I can't even think of a time snow has fell on the Casita! But there is always a first and the new covered storage is almost done. Guess we will survive this storm!
