NOT a fiberglass rv gathering. (I swear!)

We just got back from a week in Florida. We stayed at the Juniper Springs Campground in the Ocala National Forest.

Having been trapped in the mother of all traffic jams on the way home, we are very tired. I'll post more tomorrow, including photos.

But the strangest thing was this:

We saw the following rvs in the campsite:

A U-Haul (13 feet).

A Burro (13 feet).

A Compact Jr. (12 feet?).

A Trillium (13 feet).

A Casita (17 feet--not ours).

And on the way back, we spotted two Casitas (both 17 footers) headed south as we headed north.

The most amazing thing was the guy who had the Casita got the campsite right next to ours. And when he came over to introduce himself...we discovered that we both graduated from the same tiny high school in the same tiny town (Ellijay, Georgia)! What are the odds?!

Okay, here are some of the photos of the other fiberglass rvs we saw at the campground. We met some of the owners.

The first one is of the Burro. A 13 foot model. I didn't meet the owner, but my wife did. He works for Sea Ray boats and didn't know anything about fiberglass trailers until he saw one for sale locally. Since he works with fiberglass and knows how to repair it, he bought this "fixer-upper" and has begun restoring it. He likes it because he said it's great for his wife and two kids.

This next one is of the U-Haul. It was rough looking. The owner was taking care of eight neices and nephews and they were a Hell-raising bunch. The less said about them, the better. Fortunately, they left after two days. (Thank Jove!)

The next one is of a Compact Jr. owned by a very sweet and interesting couple we met (Angel & Rafael Edmisten). They came over to see our Casita and invited us to see their Compact Jr. They live on Drayton Island in the middle of Lake George.

Here is the 1986 Casita owned by Terry Nolan of Ellijay, Georgia (where I went to High School). He's a white-water kayaker and comes down to Florida every year to do the spring runs.

The last one we saw was an older Trillium as we were leaving the campground. I think it was in the midst of being fixed up.

Nope. Completely slipped my mind. I'm not going to be able to attend myself. He does check in here from time to time (don't know if he posts), so he should know about it. I left my email address with him, so maybe he'll write to me.
