Now I have to decide
This is my '74 Trillium 13'. It is still totally original. I have to make a decision; to restore it to it's original glory or, as my grandson would say "pimp" it.

I had the same conundrum, and have gone for a hybrid. It's not like it will be worth another 20 grand at Barrett-Jackson because you have the original indoor-outdoor carpeting on the floor. In the end I decided I'd respect the spirit of the trailer, but have just ordered new cushions, rather than trying to restore the old ones and match the fabric, for instance. I think some 22" Pirellis with spinners would make nice tires! Just make sure you do it for the enjoyment, and the rest will follow.

My vote, for what its worth, is R E S T O R E. You can always make changes later on.
Sometimes, camping in May at the Fort can require an .

I wouldn't alter and modernize it too much, rather enjoy it's original rustic charm.

Isn't "rustic charm" real estate speak for "no drains"?

Hi Ian. I would suggest that you place your trailer up for sale at an appropriate price for being in original condition. Should it sell, buy another trailer to fix up as you like and take the family on a trip with the profits. If it doesn't sell, renovate as you see fit. It's your trailer and you will have satisfied any obligation you might feel you have to it's original condition. Raz

I am with Raz on this one. If you want a custom/pimp trailer, get a beat-up trailer, there are lots of them. Yours looks like a good original and I would not heavilly modify it. Good Luck.

"Original Condition" does not necessarily translate into 'Valuable' in our little eggs. So it probably doesn't make any difference what you do unless you place value on it being "original". If you have owned this trailer its whole life, you have the advantage of having full knowledge of its history (accidents, maintenance, etc). This is an advantage over a 'handyman special' you might pick up. You could simply sell the original parts to someone restoring a Trill, and enjoy upgrading yours to your preferences. ....pimp it up, baby

Without knowing what it needs by way of restoration it's hard to comment.
The avacado green inserts are kinda cool - work around them with new fabrics and you'll be stylin' ....in a semi original way.

Peter, I'm with you in terms of how I'm restoring mine. New cushions, replaced the original green indoor/outdoor carpeted floor with a nice vinyl. But it's nice to keep all you can - there's a charm to these things that "new" can't replace.

The covers look quite good in the photos but in reality are now so worn that just sitting on them will probably be the end of them!

Mod on! But use professional techniques, tools, skills and products. Make the trailer exactly the way you want it... you own it, now make it YOURS. I'd rather be one of one, than one of many. From the outside, many of these trailers look exactly alike. It's only when you go inside you can spot the differences AND the creature comforts folks find best for themselves. YMMV
