OK Donna

Donna,

We made it to Brookings. As soon as we reached Harris State Park it started pouring. Where's the Sun? It certainly didn't follow us from Yuma......

Norm, you should have stayed south if looking for sun - spring is late to the wet coast!

Glad you made it safely. If you Google the state park, and look at the pictures, you'll be able to see how beautiful it is on a dry day.
Happy Trails

We've been to Brookings many times and really like it. Sorry to see that Suzy Qs restuarant is no longer here.

Actually shortly after I wrote the post the Sun popped out. Maybe the Sun did come with me. I will say that the 101 drive thru Northern CA and Oregon is wonderful, Sun or not.

Next we're off to one of our favorite towns Port Orford. One of the joys of the drive is simply all the memories that rush back from all our stays in the area.

You drove too fast and the sun fell behind a bit, that was all.

Carol, your spring is late? That's interesting to hear. In the lower midwest we have observed that spring is 2 to 3 weeks early here. The Bradford pears and dogwoods blossomed way early; now the honeysuckle is out and that usually comes about May 1st.

We didn't really get winter at all, so it looks like we are now paying for it with a never-ending version of "not quite winter" - plus 14* and rain, again today

I think I'll design an umbrella with a sun pattern on the underside. That way I'll always be sure to have sun in Oregon.

Say you two if you aren't aware of this nice little campground and don't care about electricity, it's about a 1 or 2 miles up Sixes Rd. You can use your Golden Age pass and get 1/2 price which makes it very very reasonable. Sixes Rd. is a few miles north of Port Orford, turn right, that would be east. The campground is on the left.

A number of years ago a friend and I camped there. The site was $6 at the time with my GA and they let us share the site, so we only paid $3 each for the night. Pretty sweet.

I see there are two places to camp on that road. There's another BLM spot a little further up the road. It says available after May 31, probably pretty wet this year.

We have saying on Vancouver Island atleast that 'if you don't like they weather, wait 5 minutes'...I'm sure Oregon is much the same at this time of year! Happy travels

Vancouver weather forecasting methods:

If you can see the mountains, it will rain later today

If you cannot see the mountains - its raining now.

LOL Dave your right - no real winter so I guess the powers that be decided we didnt need a real spring either! I noticed that a shrub in my yard that often blooms in Feb only started to bloom last week...

Lucille Ball

Ginny's making Lucille Ball jokes and the relatives are laughing..

A lady walked up to us on the beach and presented us with a shell fossil, letting us know that you can find them on the beach at Bullards State Park.

We now have 8 of them after tramping the beach, our kitchen table is covered with them and other neat stones (who can stop once they begin).

Our trailer weight is definitely up.

Sorry Norm, Frederick isn't bringing the scales this year to the Oregon Gathering... you may have been surprised!

I picked up a big shell fossil at the beach at the gathering last year. It's still in the trailer... totally cool stuff! Yeah, I would imagine Lucille Ball is laughing about now... too bad she didn't know about molded fiberglass trailers!
