No the SOCK MONKEY!!!!!
Hmmm. How do sock monkeys and flying monkeys get along? I'm guessing that they're natural enemies.

Flying monkeys are agents of management, and sock monkeys represent the common man and woman. Seems like a recipe for stress and conflict.

I am so old that the Top 40 of my youth includes new songs by ... The Carpenters: When I was young Id listen to the radio, waiting for my favourite song. When it played, Id sing along.
I have every vinyl record that [b]The Carpenters and [b]John Denver ever made.

WLAC Nashville was a great station after dark
WLS
KAAY Little Rock
I could pick these stations up on my AM radio in my beater Olds but I could not get the radio station 25 miles away because there was a ridge between me and the station. The super Stations always came in better.

Grassroots and Herman's Hermits. We went to see the Grassroots while dating. And we went again last year. Peter Noonan followed Grassroots. He was hysterical. The third group were the Buckinghams.

"They're coming to take me away! HaHa"

And the flip side had the song playing backwards!

And for the gals ...

does anyone remember having your hair done in rags? Strips of cloth, wound around long hair (instead of curlers) ... my mom always did my hair in them. I hid if anyone came over. But I had long beautfiul curls the next morning.

[quote]I can't believe it I found a picture of my first radio. Here it is without headphones and antenna.

One of the big, sad things about the move to digital is the ever-present first electronics project of our youth, the crystal radio set, won't work anymore.

Wow. I remember spending Sat nights in College listening to da Wolfman. Then Dr. Demento. I'm so warped, I taught my kids the fish head song.
Back "in the day" I was one of the youngest officers for the San Diego ComicCon comic book convention. Now the annual event is just huge, but even thirty years ago it was a million-dollar business. Anyway, the routine for these "fan" based conventions is the kids who get in free and work security and other functions are generally put up in "staff" hotel rooms, with most of them sleeping on the floor. Officers on the Board of Directors, on the other hand, get their own room, but somehow that wasn't communicated quite clearly enough . . . So I had to kick a bunch of people off MY bed and on to the floor so my girlfriend and I could sleep in MY bed.

WELL, the hotel room snafu was worked out by the next night, but not before the kids who slept on the floor treated us to an early morning "Fish Heads" serenade.

It's 1958. I'm sitting on a self propelled Massey 40 combine with no cab, and definitely no air conditioning, I get on when the dew dries about 10 in the morning and climb off when the dew comes in the evening, If it doesn't we go till the gas runs out. At the end of the day I head for the nearest farm pond for a dip 'cause you're either covered with dirt or green from the weed pollen. It's boring and dirty but your a teenager and you love it 'cause you're doing a real job. When I get home someone again washes me down with the garden hose before I'm allowed into the house 'cause I'm still filthy dirty.
Oh yeah! Those were great times.
