After spending a good portion of the last 24 hours cleaning up after ol man winter, I'm thinking the IOC should start including activities the common person deals with. There are a lot of activities I can think of. For example
Downspout diverson
Bus Slush slalom
Windrow clearing
Freestyle shoveling
Ice chop
...

This is stuff we deal with every year and understand the rules.
What are your suggestions?

It was announced today that bars are allowed to open and serve liquor for the Gold Medal Hockey Game. It starts at 5:00AM here. Could be good fun.

In BC the bars can open, but not serve alcohol.
I can't imagine crawling out of bed at 4AM to go to a bar to watch hockey and then crawling out of the bar at 9AM.

I can. It will be great fun. I am usually up by then anyway, and most certainly will be to watch the game, and it is not too far to a bar.

Fortunately there will be beer.

I won't be at the bar guzzling beer while watching the final hockey game. To do that would mean getting showered and dressed before breakfast time. Also driving to the bar in the cold and dark. Also trying to follow the action when others are yelling and carrying on 'something shocking' as my mum used to say.

Nah - I'll get up, put on my cosy housecoat, make a cup of coffee while the computer starts up and then enjoy the game in peace.

I know I'll probably lose my passport for this, but what day is the game?

But actually, the men played great in the semi-final game against the US. They used short shifts, always seemed to have someone in position away from the puck, and most importantly played as a team, with no selfishness. The US has a great team, but were outplayed on this occasion, in my opinion. Quick did a fantastic job in net for the US too.

Our Apologizes for that Donna!

I also have no problem with seeing how going to a bar in the wee hours of the morning to watch the game might add a little eliminate of fun to watching it - beer or no beer being served.

This time around I do not plan on missing the party!

During the last BIG game four years ago I arrived home an hour before the game started having been out of town for 30 days working on the Olympic alpine events. I sat down to watch the game and I fell asleep within minutes. Slept through the whole game even though there where a number of others in the room yelling there way through the game! They did wake me up to make sure I saw the replay of the best part of the game! Crosby's overtime goal! LOL

A very unhappy group of USA hockey players coming back on the ice for the third period behind the Finish team 2-0, guess they must be dejected at having to get the Bieb! They will find it tough to even get the bronze.

Canada did the same thing when last eliminated in the semifinals. Drug their heels in the bronze game.

Yes, but the addition and elimination of beer does add to the fun. ;-)
