Trailer: Burro 13 ft
Posts: 10
We did it! We picked up our new little Burro and had our first journey, all i can say is WaHooo! We picked him up in Iowa during a storm of biblical proportions. Took a couple hours looking him over, hooking it up and becoming friends with the people we bought him from, then drove to a truck stop in DeMoines and "camped" our first night. It was wet, it was cold but it was wonderful!!! Spent the better part of a week visiting both sides of the family in Cincinnati,(all the little ladies at " the home" gave the Burro their stamp of approval) and from there went up to Madison to spend a couple nights at a state park visiting with friends, then meandered on home via I-90. And ya'll are right, everybody thought it was "way too cool!" All told about 2000 miles without any problems and the HHR towed it easily between 65-75 on the highway. Although the mileage was better and the ride more fun on the secondary roads at 50-55. Thank you all for telling us what to look for, it's not perfect but pretty darn close! The tires are almost new, the bearings were just packed last year, the upholstery is original but looks new. It has an electric/propane refrigerator that works GREAT. The fiberglass inside and out is near perfect. And it came with all the original paperwork and the original key. Driving thru THE STORM we found 2 small leaks in the front and back windows but during an average rain they were dry. We'd like to replace the rubber anyway The carpeting was in pretty good shape but we just want to replace it too, probably with a good vinyl. The floor is solid. So, we'll spend a couple weeks putting our mark on it and then look forward to heading to...anywhere!

Cool

We know what you mean. Took our new Trillium out for the first time to North Whidbey Island RV Park for the first outing and it was great. Then a week later attended the Northern Oregon Nog, and it was wonderful. A little electric heater kept the cold at bay and we were as snug as a bug in a rug.

Suzi

Congrats on the new egg and glad to see another FGRV owner in Colorado.

While you are making travel plans please check out the SD Egg Rally in Sept. I would be a good chance to meet some other egg owners and show off your Burro.

Susi, So the whole Colorado tags thing worked out? Cool Beans! Congrats! So glad everything worked out. Glad you where able to enjoy for your whole trip versus picking up on your way home. You know being in Northern Colorado there's always Poudre Canyon, the farther you get up there the better the campgrounds.

As Orlen said, try and make the South Dakota rally, It's going to be fun. I am trying to get a Rally going here, but can't seem to find a weekend everyone would be able to attend. First it was where to hold it, now since everyone has few open weekends, I stuck! I am about to just throw a bunch of dates in a hat and pull. LOL. Enjoy! Robin

Roger, Congrats to you on you purchase as well!
