While surfing, looking for a Med ID tag for my human pet, I found these programmed USB flash drives for pets. I'll order a couple for our dogs even though their computer expertise is limited to getting hair in the computer tower. In my not-so-humble opinion, these should only be used in addition to more-conventional dog (or cat) ID tags. But these hold a lot more info, room for multiple phone numbers and contacts, home address, second-home address, RV description, medications, home area vet, etc. The two tags together should help bring Fido (a.k.a. Lucy & Simba) home.

Hope this is helpful to a few of our many pet lovers here.

The human med ID tag at the website is a little larger, and, yes, my human pet is going to get one of those too!

That's an interesting idea.

The other advanced tagging method is the implanted RFID (radio-frequency identification) tag (e.g. Pet-ID, , which vets and shelters read with a common reader, yielding an ID code. They then look on a web site which provides the same sort of information, as registered by the owner. All pets adopted out by our SPCA get a tag like this now, and we have had our cats and dog done.

The implanted tag has the advantage of not getting lost and always being in place, even without the collar. It is what the Top Tag people call "microchip", and their comparison chart is questionable... but we know what they're selling.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.
