Hello everyone, new to the forum and I thought I would share some pictures and videos I took today. I took a road trip up to Canada today to check out the new 19' Escape since my parents just put in an order for one. I took a few pictures that you can see on Flicker and I also took two videos, one of the 19' Escape and one of the Escape assembly lines.
Here is a link to the pictures:

I have to mention that this was just the assembly area. They had a wood working shop next door and the mold plant was at the other end of town...

I have never been a fan of OSB (Oriented Strand Board). It's been known as a serious out gas material. I am surprised that Escape chose to use it (unpainted) as hatch cover doors. Currently it's very close to the price of 1/2-5/8 plywood in BC so maybe it's a weight issue?

BookerB,
I'd agree with that. I was surprised a year ago or so when I looked at photos and saw a lot of strandboard in use in the interiors. Perhaps there's some new low emitting version in use here?
Fiberglass itself is almost zero outgas emitting when cured, so offers few problems. It's the other stuff added inside (foam, carpet, OSB, some types of insulation, certain adhesives, etc.) that can cause many of us problems.

Great photos and vids Kevin.
Booker, exterior grade plywood and OSB use the same formaldehyde to bond the fibers together. The amount of offgassing is pretty much the same in them, and with the types of formaldehyde commonly used, the offgas is not as bad as the stuff used in the past. I am not sure what Escape uses, but formaldehyde free sheathing is available in some markets.

That's good information Jim. Sometimes I feel the forum has turned into a gian fan club for Escape Trailers
Don't get me wrong though, if I could buy a 15' Escape I would be first in line!

1- the type of glue used today in not on the EPA list... it is considered safe and used in new homes.. even in California.
2- there are formaldehyde free boards today should Escape care to use them or should you want to order your escape with them
3- where, should the board off gas, can the gas go? Where in the trailer is there exposure to the board gasses?
4- lots of paints available for sealing off gassing woods.
5- obviously thankful that the cabinets are oak
Just my take/questions on it.

There is no giant fan club that I can see.
If you want a new trailer, how many brands can you pick from?
Compare the brands and what they have to offer and pick... but its not about rooting... like a fan club.
I am happy with my 17 Casita with all its faults.
But I still want an Escape 19 for just my reasons that's all.

Although there are a lot of postings supporting Escape I think there is good reason for it being as how Reece and his wife are both members here and the Escape trailer was basically born here, Reece asked a lot of questions and got a lot of answers and used many suggestions from the folks here that went into a very fine product. If I was to buy new I would take a serious look at the Escape

Is this the new escape factory location? Or have they not moved yet?
