For the full story, see here.

And if you don't want to read the full story, just look at the dates on the piece of paper.

Unbelievable! You finally go it. Based on your story, it sounded like the paperwork had met it's demise in one of those black holes at the DMV. Fortunately for you, the paperwork finally came out! Congratulations!

Hi: Bobby... You have proved that "There is a light at the end of the TUNNEL". It might well have been easier for your trailer to have been an "Illegal Alien"!!! Maybe a bumper sticker "I fought the D.M.V." and WON!!!

Another good thing to know (rest assured, all you who live in California!) is that the CHP is just as efficient as the DMV. In eight months of pulling a trailer with expired out-of-state plates (TV has California plates) I was never stopped. I wonder how long I could have gone without getting it registered? (I did have temporary operating permits on most trips, but not visibly displayed.)

Now that may not be a fair assessment. Just take a moment and think of all the rinky-dink do good laws state legislators have passed, expecting the patrolling personnel to enforce. Put yourself in the place of a highway patrolman when you pull up behind a vehicle and see if you can think of all the things they are expected to check.

Now, that should get me some brownie points with the HP, but I'm not defending the sittin' on their fannies paper pushers in such places as your DMV.

I was involved in a similar experience getting a title situation cleared up here in Tennessee. I know how difficult they can be, just because they can. Common sense isn't in their file cabinet.

Harold

WOW Bobby, FINALLY huh? hehe CONGRATS! I've peeked in from time to time to see how your uphill battle was going, how INSANE! Now you can rest assured that you won't get pulled over!
Honestly I'm kind of lazy about things like putting my new license tags on the car, stuff like that, and I've yet (KNOCK ON WOOD!hehe) to get pulled over. I often wonder if they DO see you, but run your plate on their computer and see that you're fine, or in the process, or something...

Anyway, enjoy your LEGAL trailer!
Joe

Um...they still didn't get it right...

Nice [b]UTILITY trailer you got there... What part of [b]CAMPSTER did they not understand?

It should have shown "CMP" where it shows "UTILITY".

I know, couldn't figure that out, except maybe the Washington title listed it as a utility trailer. It doesn't matter, it still gets permanent trailer plates.
