Coffee Cove
Come By Chance
Cow Head
Crow Head
Cupids
Deep Bight
Dildo
Dildo Run
Garnish
Goobies

Nameless Cove

River of Ponds
Roundabout
Seldom Come By
Shoe Cove
Spread Eagle
Stocking Harbour
St. Joan's Within

Witless Bay

It's kind of a smile while you drive place.....

There is an actual place on Marine Drive in Portland, Oregon called "Dittler's Beach." Brings a smile to the LEOs who are called to the area to do a safety check.

There is a place called "Poverty Flats" on I-5 Northbound between Los Banos and Stockton in North-Central California.

Oklahoma mostly has odd sounding names, like Weleetka, Watonga, Waurika, Wynona, and Wapanucka. There's Tahlequah, Okmulgee and Muskogee. But we do have a few odd ones like yours: Bugtussle and Slaughterville come to mind.

Michigan has a Climax, too (good for them, right?) Also there's a Gay, Michigan. Interestingly, Climax is fairly close to Hell, Michigan.... but Gay is nowhere near either one.

We have a lot of places with native names but some of the odder/funner names:
Spuzzam, Bugaboos, Poopoo Creek, Skookumchuck, Yahk, Likely, Parsnip River and Zippermouth Lake

I remember two towns in Texas - Stinkwater followed by Sweetwater.

There's a Stinkwater here as well. I know there's a Conception Bay that's near Booty Cove back east

Minnesota also has a Climax too. It's near Fertile Mn. Hence the old joke:
Newspaper headline....
Fertile woman dies in Climax!

I absolutely love the names of some of the old farm communities in Minnesota. They are so beautiful:
Blooming Prairie. Hayfield. Spring Grove. Spring Valley. Butternut. Maple Grove. Apple Valley. Rose Creek. Hope. Cottonwood. Pine Island. Deerfield. Blue Earth. Long Lost Lake. Harmony. Hartland. Freeborn. Two Harbors. Aurora. Geneva. Sunrise.

I know I've skipped around the state (a lot). I just love the names, and the memories, and the camping.
My thanks to the pioneers who named these lovely places, with their lovely names.

Truth or Consequences, NM, Rough and Ready, CA.

SherryNPaul: You know you live too close to Minnesota when you have been to just about all of them or you don't live that far away.
