Portable Grills
Considering buying a portable grill to carry along in the Scamp 13ft. Any recommendations?

Not sure if you're looking for a propane or a charcoal grill, but we absolutely love our propane Weber Baby Q100 grill. Everything we grill seems to turn out delicious!!

I prefer propane so there is less cleanup and carrying charcoal along.

30Aug2011 Costco has a stainless steel table top propane grill and it was 1/2 price at the Richmond store today $49.97.

Our neighbor loves their BabyQ. We love our generic infrared grill from a sporting goods store, all stainless. We both love the low impact on resource (LP) when in use.

I have an old small propane grill that uses those little green bottles, it's nice and easy but you can't beat charcoal for flavor.

Another vote for the Weber Baby Q100. We've had ours for two years. We use it on trips and at home on the back deck. The cast aluminum body is sturdy and durable.

For years we've bought the cheapest portable propane grills we could find, usually around $22 at Walmart. When they get too nasty we toss them and get a new one. After the paint burns off and they get too rusty we don't mess with them any more. Right now our local Walmart has a pretty good looking one with folding legs for $35. Thinking about it but we're wondering if the extra cost for a stainless one is worth it. Sure won't get it at Camping World, though. One we saw there was over $200 while Sam's Club had one for half that. Would like to hear from somebody using stainless.

The little Cadac, Safari, I think it is called, is a very versatile grill. It all fits in a case. It has a griddle/grill, grilling rack, a burner, to put a pot on, a lid that can be used for a wok, sauce, soup, etc. Supposedly, you can even bake in it, with the lid on, to set up convection heat.
It uses the cylinders or you can use an adapter for larger propane tanks. We haven't tried baking on the little one, but we have on the larger, free standing one.
One of our favorite things to do is use the wok and make blackberry dumplings from berries we pick out camping. Terry R.

Second the vote for the Cadac Safari. Have had one now for about two years. Small, light weight, uses small propane bottles, has five different plates for doing different things. The lid also serves as a wok which I probably have used more than anything. Cleans up easy. Great grill. Has its own storage bag. I also have a two burner Coleman stove. I got a cast aluminum rectangle grill plate for it - smooth on one side, ribbed on the other. Makes GREAT steaks. Better than a charcoal grill and faster. I got rid of a dedicated "grill" because between the Cadac and the Coleman with griddle plate I can do anything the BBQ grill did.

Oh, those neat little hibachis. A lot of great meals on that tiny grill in the early 80's. I haven't seen one in a long time, either.
