Questions from a newbie
Hello everyone!
I just happened to find this site from a search engine and glad I found it. Lots of great info here.
I am looking for a travel trailer and searching all of the reccommended places to no avail. I know when the time is right, it will arrive.
My questions are these:
1. I have a Toyota 4 Runner (V6 3.0) and am wondering how this will effect my decision. I would prefer a 16', but may have to go for a 13' due to towing. Is this true, or may I be able to tow a Scamp, Casita, with my SUV with no prob?
2. I am wondering the size of the beds in these various models. I am a tall guy (6 foot 3) and I was worried that a 13' may not be condusive to my height.
3. Any other ideas of where to search for one of these gems? They sure seem popular!
Thanks in advance!

Hi, Dave!
:wave Glad you found us!
I can't answer your tow vehicle question, but I think you're right that at your height, you're probably gonna be unhappy with a 13 ft. trailer.
The bed in Casita's ''Liberty'' model is surely big (long) enough for you. You can get the Casita Liberty in either a 16 ft. or a 17 ft.
Some of our other members will be along directly, to chime in... Meanwhile, if you haven't already found it, there's a Search button at the top of the index (Forum) page. It works pretty well (fast) and you'll surely turn up a few things that relate to your questions.
Welcome aboard!! :cblob

>>He did mention there might be a leak coming from the 3 way fridge (smells a bleach type odor)
Probably means the refrigerator is shot ... and has to be replaced. The smell, similar to ammonia, means it has to be rebuilt (expensive, and getting difficult to find a rebuilder) or replaced (best option).
Mary's right on the money about the Casita Liberty Deluxe model ... with it's king sized bed. I'm 6'4" and have owned three Liberty Deluxe models ... two 16 footers, one 17 footer.
Given the size of your tow vehicle, I'd stick with a 16 foot Casita .. Liberty Deluxe, king bed option ... and I guarantee you'll sleep like a baby at night ... with room for your spouse and a pet or two!

Dave said he'd found a fiberglass rig for sale ... called the guy, and found someone else had put down a deposit.
The seller said the refrigerator was leaking, however. Dave wondered if that would be an easy fix. It isn't.
The seller said if the depositor failed to follow through, he'd give Dave a call.
What model was the rig, Dave? At 6'3" ... you'd need the king bed option!

Anytime you open your refrigerator, and smell an ammonia smell, it means it's time to start looking for a new refrigerator.

Hey Charles-
Thanks for the responses. I am not sure which model it is. I have a feeling it is NOT the king size bed option, which will probably rule that out.
If it is indeed time for a new fridge or major repair, do you have an idea of what that might run?

Introducing....
Today we had not one, but TWO Casita visitors. On our street in the Santa Cruz Mtns. we have us and Bob & Shirley, and now a new Scamp, plus as of today, a visiting 80's vintage Casita, and another family who may buy! (Could it be that Pearl (our baby) and the Wandering Eggloo (Bob & Shirley's) have a "thing" happening--it is spring, after all) (it could have happened at Lopez Lake when we were all out for dinner!)
So, just want those who came by today to feel welcome! Stay and chat a while.

Charles- Thanks for the answers. I agree that the purchase of a new one probably is a better option than repairing the one in it presently.
The owner will be calling places tomorrow for estimates and getting back to the guy that made the deposit. If he balks at the deal, then he will call me.
Part of me wants to swoop in and try to buy it now. I will wait though, I'd hate someone to do that to me. Also, maybe the prospective buyer will figure it is too much of a hassle and nix the deal.
Either way, I have my eyes open for a 16' Casita.
Here is a dumb question for ya. IF this model isn't a king sized bed, is there any way to make it so, or are the models configured differently?
Nancy-
After we get our Casita (or Scamp), you will be seeing up there in your neck of the woods camping. We are in San Luis Obispo county.
I saw where a 16' sold on eBay for $5,500, that one had a king size bed.
