My name is the first part of my real name, since the full name is just too long, although I usually do remember it.

Apparently I/we would. It gets a little schizophrenic at times being Ian/Vicki, though.

Real name here as well, I guess cause I just followed suit of the other members here when I joined. All forums I belong to with the exception of facebook I have a forum name. Didn't even think of using it when I found fiberglassrv.com cause seemed that the forum names were peoples real names. Find it interesting as you don't see a lot of web surfing names here.

Yes. I followed the directions, especially since I agreed with the reason given.
I have had experience with assuming aliases; even before their proliferation on the internet. An alias usually means that you have something to hide from the people that you are interacting with while under the alias. The people I have actually met here are the most genuine and [b]trustworthy people I have ever met anywhere. There is a lot of value in that, and I am better able to value myself because of it. Most aliases are created out of fear. I don't ever want to live under that kind of fear again.
|
Never even occurred to me to use an alias! I have enough trouble remembering our right names without using a made up moniker! LOL

Hey--at least Vicki is a way cooler spelling! Always wished I had at least been named "Victoria"---then I'd go as Tori Lynn. Now, there's a cool name!

I don't think anyone I've ever known has walked up to me and called me "peterh." Not even sure how you'd say it . . . "pEt-erth?" "pEt-eh?"
It might be an accent thing. Americans might use "pEt-erth," Canadians "pEt-eh?" Dunno.
When I sign my name it looks completely different. It distinctly starts with a capital "P" then what mostly looks like an "e" or "c," followed by some random wavy line that's supposed to represent something, but unless you knew me you could never be quite sure what that thing is. And there always seem to be three distinct scrawly things in my signature, the middle one starting with something that could be a "Gl" or "Jl" . . . "Glin," maybe? The last scrawl looks like a stylized "K" or perhaps the mathematical symbol for calculus integration followed by a "G," "C" or possibly "L" and then a totally meaningless line that, if it appeared on an EKG would suggest asystole. (A fatal, unrestorable cardiac electrical sign wave).
I can not tell a lie . . . My true name must be Pe___Gl__K____.

Wow! I never realized that there were so many people who had only a letter as their real name. Guess I'll just use my initials... JK.. so call me JAKE, EH?

Hi: All... What's in a name???The older I get the more times I have to look for visual clues to my identity. Thats where labels are important!!! Jack Fraser, George Richards, Denver Hayes, Windy River... why I can even be a single name celeb. like Dior.
