Revelation

Last night Ginny and I realized that we have spent 1/4 of our married life 'On the Road'. Simply we've been married for 48 years and spent most of the last 12 years traveling in a series of RVs.

We were both surprised when I mentioned it last night.

I can say that during these 12 years my only wish was that we had started earlier.

Safe Travels to all.

Usually Norm that's what people say...why didn't we do it earlier!

Well you can't change the past, just keep on enjoying the future!

I used to think when I retired I would sail off into the sunset... now I think I will be on my land yacht, driving over the horizon!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm relatively introspective and was surprised by the realization.

Though we have 'only' spent a 1/4 of our married life RVing, it's even more significant than that because for the last 12 years we have spent virtually every day together, rarely apart, no working, no really separate interests.

Certainly when we're home I'm working on the trailer and sometimes the house and she's inside, however our separation is always less than 100 feet. When home she goes for a beach walk most nights with her sister but generally it's us.

We watch the same shows, often read the same books (one Nook account). It has been great continuing to grow even closer as we age. We seem to make an unconscious effort to share each other's interests.

We hope to have 10 more years on the road in our Scamp, at least a couple more loops of the USA, a few more trips to Newfoundland and Labrador and a long stay in Utah.

Again thanks for the kind words, loving our Scamp and the time together.....

My wife & I have been married 49 years as of December. We took our first camping trip in the spring of 1964. In the summer of 1964 we took our first cross country RVing trip (pop up Apache tent trailer). We've been at it ever since and have no plans to quit although we did decide to hang up the snowbirding.

What do you plan to do during your long stay in Utah?

Congratulations to you Ginny and Norm! You are indeed an inspiration to us all!

My DH and I are approaching 40 years of marriage. We have many years of car camping and backpacking vacations under our belts. He retired over 12 years ago while I continued to work until recently when I joined him in retirement. I was happily surprised to find that we have a new found love and appreciation for one another now that we spend so much time together. We seem to get along even better when we are on the road with our Scamp. We, too, hope to have many more years of wedded and camping bliss ahead of us.
Happy Camping!

Gilda,
Happy to read you have made a similar discovery.

In some measure I think it's the removal of every day stress and tje ability to more fully share each other.

Whatever the source I revel in our time together and am happy to read you are as well.

Joyful travels
