Route 66 Chicago May- Ca June, then north and back

Looking for info on route 66 road trip. I put a thread in Rallies and Meets. Hoping to find events along the way - FG, cars(driving a 1934 modified Desoto Airflow), route 66.
Any suggestions on camping?
Anyone interested in joining us on the road for a few days? Always interested in meeting fellow FG owners. We will leave southern Ontario May 11- 15, Springfield Mo for a day on Memorial week end at the National Street Rod Association Meet and follow route 66 to the Santa Monica pier, then north along the coast for a while, Bend Oregon for June 17 - 22 then head east . Our dates are wrong for all the scheduled FG rallies, and route 66 events.
Suggestions? Questions?

Found this website that covers quite a bit. Not sure if it is what you are interested in/looking for.

Resources - National Historic Route 66 Federation

Have a great trip.

Give me a heads up before you reach Bend and I'll check what's happening in the area. Safe travels, Jeff
Ps- I grew up near Santa Monica!

Thanks Alice.
That organization puts out the most recommended guides to route 66. We know people who did 66 other years who found those guides the most helpful. I ordered those and also joined the federation to get an electronic newsletter. Also joined the Canadian route 66 assoc. They are mostly in bc and their annual run this year is a month too early for us, and they of course come in from the north west.

Jeff Thanks for the Bend offer.
What are the logistics of parking near the pier with a tt?

Wish I could be of assistance with that, but my L.A. years did not involve any travel trailers. The Pier area is very congested with both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. That being said there is a small parking lot on the pier itself, and a much larger one below it bordering the beach.
