THIS IS NOT A RECIPE!

I thought it was time to move this from the USvsCAN thread.

Many, many (many) years ago we used to walk the golf course at the U of Western Ontario with an apple juice can strapped to each ankle with inner tubing rings and a light strapped to our hats. Spot 'em, grab 'em, drop 'em and move on. Always better after the rain too. We got paid two cent apiece for the worms. I may need some in September month. I have a fly-in fishing trip out of Red Lake, ON. after Algonac.
I will bring a quart of Screech and hopefully some homemade wines. I will not be contributing any food to the pot luck so this may suffice.

Before an audience, a temperance lecturer set up two glasses. One with water and one with alcohol.
He placed a worm in the water and it crawled right out.
He place the worm in the alcohol and it was instantly killed.
"What is the lesson?" he asked the audience.
Some wag in the back said, "I see if you drink alcohol, you won't have worms!"

Dave, my very first job was catching crickets for my next door neighbor. Two crickets (bigger the better) sold for .01 cent. He'd take them up to his cottage and use them for bluegill bait. I was rolling in the dough making as much as $1.00 per week. OK, for a 6 year old that was a lot. That would have been in the mid '50's.

We also worm hunted, but for personal use. Right after a rain, or sometimes if we got desperate, we'd water the lawn. We put red cellophane plastic over the flashlight lens so as not to spook them. We wore the can around our neck, tied with a string. My grandmother taught us how to net minnows using flour and water paste as bait. It's a wonder there are any fish left in Lake St Clair! Ah the good times!

Roger, I like the way you tied "worms" and "alcohol" together in your story. You covered all the bases. Smooth...
