rv and camping show
We went to the RV and camping show yesterday in Minneapolis....not a single fiberglass rig in the place....would've thought at least Scamp would be there?!? There were only 3 rigs under 16 feet (besides popups)....and hardly anyone looking at them.....the ad said there was something for everyone starting at $4500...we did not find anything that inexpensive....we did look at one that was $320,000....had more amenities than my house....not so much camping in my book!

Years ago I used to go to the one here (as it was RV and boat show- they never had any boats I liked either) and look at the tent trailers. Nothing else small- not even any vans or small MHs. I think the idea is to get you thinking bigger! But small manufacturers keep prices down by avoiding shows, I suspect.

Hi: eggless... From what I understand the space at RV shows rents are very high. 10-20K+ With most all fiberglass mfg's not using dealer networks makes it hard for them to get to one even in their home State/Province. I've never seen one at a show either.

EggCamper in Grandville, MI does display in the Grand Rapids RV show but, then, Grandville is a suburb of Grand Rapids. Probably your best bet to see various fiberglass trailers would be to attend one or more rallies. You could also contact manufacturers and ask if they can refer you to owners of their brands.

Perhaps Scamp is satisfied with their present volume and sees no need to attend a show. Sometimes a mfr can reach a certain plateau that maximizes their space and workforce, and more business could actually cause logistics headaches.

We also went to the RV show in Houston,Tx, same storie....add said something for everyone ....we were only window shopping so to speak and knew we would not see any molded fiberglass as they do not show thru dealers. We were also surprised that there was Very few mid to low price range campers at the show, also noted there was almost no small trailers( less than 26ft ). There were LOTS off high end, cost & size,RV's, I guess the dealers thought only rich people with big families would be at the show...Ha! Ha!
Actually we took a break at one of the snack bar tables and that is one of the many comments we heard. It seems we were not the only people that wanted to see more mid to lower price and size campers. Maybe manufacturers and dealers should take a better note of people that go to theses shows.

Yes indeed... not much for us egg folks (Ooo! This time last year I couldn't have written that!) at the Minneapolis show. Lots of behemoth 5000's that are 400 feet long and require a Mack truck to tow. The "lightweight" trailers we saw there last year indicate a rather liberal use of the word "lightweight".
Scamp always has a place at the Great Minnesota Get Together (a.k.a. "The State Fair"). There they will get exposed to a much larger cross section of the population....for a (I bet) significantly lower cost / view.

All molded trailers are being manufactured as fast as the manufactured owners can supply. Do you honestly think they'd show up at an RV show and get more orders than they could hope to fill? THAT's the downfall with sticky manufacturing. A huge production environment.... just check NADA.
OMG.

Listen to Donna. All the Molded Fiberglass Trailer Manufactures sell factory direct. Delivery times are way out. The Stickies produce a lot of bling trailers that become junk in a few years. Fiberglass last for ever if taken care of and do not go down in value.
