S.E. Kansas rally
Would like to plan a rally for May or June in Ft. Scott, Ks.
It would be at Gunn Park-a nice treed park with 2 lakes and several shelters.
The campground area has 14 campsites with water and electric.
There is also restroom/no shower.
Things to do in Ft Scott-visit the historic fort, ride Dolly the Trolly to see the historic homes, National Cemetery the downtown antique shops.
Anyone interested?

Hi Carl, hope you all can come.
Talked to the park dept. and they said I can reserve sites.
Hope to set a date soon.
Let me know what dates would or wouldn't work for you.

Only conflicting dates I would have would be VA appointments.
They can usually be rescheduled without a problem.
Dates that won't work for me are days with ice storms.........LOL
That's far enough out I should be able to work around
what ever date you decide on.

The only thing I would say that might be a little hard is the fact that where you want to hold it has only 14 sites......
I personally think 14 attendee's is small. I think you might find you have more people wanting a site? Not sure, but just my thinking.......

Dont think there will be a need for more sites.
This is the first year for the rally or get together.
If more people are coming I will move it to a bigger campground.
There are several areas a few miles from town.
Would like to stay close to town so people will have things to do and see in their free time.
Thanks for the info.

Rick I think Robin has raised a valid point. Historically even though its a first year rally I suspect you can expect more than 14 trailers. Not sure I have ever attend a rally with only that small number unless it was by private invitation only. The problem is that once you post a rally publicly here people know about it and plan to attend but many will not post publicly here that they are attending - for security reasons. They will just book in. Historically our rallies here have ranged from a low of 35 (heavy rainy week-end forecasted - threat of the road to the campground flooding out due to high rains ) to a high of 95 trailers (sunny week-end forecasted).

Oh I could be wrong, but let's be honest. That is about the only time of year to be in Kansas, You might just get more people than your thinking. Especially because that is the time of year people are traveling through there on their way to other destinations. Just saying, you can always adjust as needed. There is a Kansas rally that has been going 2 years and if I remember correctly it's pretty popular from the get go........

The passing through is a good point. Here in BC we have had people show up from as far as Texas, Florida and New York (sorry if I have forgotten anyone) as well as from Eastern Canada.
Seems lots of people take a look at the Rally Map when making their vacation plans to see if there are any rallies in the areas they are planing on going through.

I would love to attend. This year is out due to a trip thats planned. I traveled US 69 last spring going to KC. The historic town of Ft Scott is worth visiting. One question...Is't that time frame in peak tornado season? I hate severe weather in a FG trailer!

Hadn't thought of that. Guess I am just used to living with bad weather in Kansas. Have never lived any where else.
Will have to rethink the date-dont want to be chasing campers across the park or go flying in one.

LOL well keeping the date as planned might not be a bad thing - it might help to keep your numbers down to the desired 14 or less.

Don't let me throw a wet blanket on your rally plans Ricky. We will not be able to attend your May/early June 2014 date. I've dodged a few tornados traveling from Colorado across Kansas in the spring. We were close to a town called Greensburg, KS in a Casita... I think in about '07 when that town was leveled. That close call got my attention.

No matter where you travel there maybe bad weather, tornados in the midwest, hurricanes here in the east, forest fires out west. No really perfectly safe time nor place no matter where. Make sure you stay tuned to local weather forecasts via a portable weather radio and enjoy your trip.
