With the sisal fabric on our UHaul VT cushions, I just don't want to tempt fate with a possible leak or little critters. The fabric can't just be wiped clean and it does hold odors. However, it is tough as nails in regard to wear, which is probably why UHaul put them in their rental trailers.

During winter storage (and after a camping trip) I stand the cushions on a side. I'd like to believe there's better air circulation. I know it helps after a camping trip. I put a container of Dri-Z-Air in the sink and it pulls all the moisture out of the foam. No musty odors or mildew after ten years of doing this. YMMV

Donna, that's pretty impressive in your high humidity climate. I learned another new thing!

I do the same thing as Donna, putting the cushions on their sides for more air circulation. This fall I started using the Dri-Z-Air when camping to help manage excess moisture in the Boler. I did removed it for the winter because it would just freeze as I live in the Prairies where we have a "dry cold" climate.

We run our A/C for a few hours with no occupants in the trailer prior to putting it in storage the A/C is an effective dehumidifier and helps to assure the trailer is dry before it is put away.

a repair man at the local rv place told me to put salt in a bowl and that would absorb the humidity and the trailer will smell fresh in the spring. We shall see.

Dry-Z-Air so cheap and it's known to work.
