Saw this 1973 Amerigo that is for sale near me today

https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/...385452226.html

This guy is selling his Amerigo. I was so curious to see one in person, I stopped by.
Sadly, it has some leak issues that will need to have some walls replaced. Apparently, the windows leak and that's what caused the water damage on some of the wall areas. The ceiling looked VERY good.

I'm not familiar with the Amerigo, but I think this one seemed as if it could be original.

I got the feeling that the guy would take a low offer on it. Seemed like he'd like it gone.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, or contact him, he doesn't take email questions, so I used text with the number he has in the ad.

The ad says "good condition," but in light of your comments about it I'd call it no better than fair condition. Folks often tend to exaggerate in their ads.

Maybe the admins will move this thread to the "referrals" section......

I'm not sure how to rate it myself...definitely fair+ and good in many areas of it.

I really like how those windows pop out, I think I like them as much if not more than my jalousies.

I had never stepped inside one. It sure felt roomy.
It had a 5 pin tow plug.
It will need some work, but I'd imagine it would be a labor of love.

I don't know his bottom line on it, but again, I felt like he wanted an offer he could live with, low as it might be. He said he had the pink slip on it. I liked that it had the old blue/gold California license plate that matched the time frame of the Amerigo.

WOW, the front niche door, the long mirror, the original appliances, it is indeed close to original. The configuration of the seat cushions...original gauchos.

Looks pretty good for under $3K. Pure speculation of course, but I don't think the replacement of the water damaged wall panels would be that big of a job. Likely just need to replace the butyl tape around the windows to seal them again.

If I wasn't restoring a Catalina 25 sailboat and my Perris Pacer, I'd drive down to buy it! this could be a cool trailer!

One thing that I'm not sure about are two of the windows.

The driver's side front window and the passenger side rear window are slider and neither are glass. They are the two areas where the leaks occurred.

Is it possible those two windows are NOT original to the coach?

deal deal

lisa you could make the man an offer based on all it needs done to it there will be very few offers with the condition and park it until you can get to it. As some other members here do.

I doubt with everything done it would ever bring more than 5 or 6k. With the work to be done not much meat on the bone unless you can get a real deal on it.

I bet the owner knows this too! maybe he is just hoping? too much longer sitting it will be worth nothing!!

The sliders are replacements, depending on how long the leak had gone on you could be looking at floor replacement too. Check the floor closely in the front also if there's a toilet in there, the plywood floor likes to rot bad there. It's all very repairable, just better if you're prepared for that step before you buy it instead of finding out afterwards.

SteveV, yes, as I said above, "close" to original. The windows are what I noticed, too. The originals didn't have sliders.

I agree with your recommendation to check out the floor--very carefully. |And you cannot do it from beneath the bottom, as the construction is "bathtub," or full fiberglass hull underneath.

This is the latest in several amerigo FG-16s that have been available in the last few months, Mr.Claus's among them.

Paul is just drooling to get another one!

I suppose he wants to put up his big brown construction tarp again, and needs a project worthy of it.

Thanks all for the input. I believe his bottom line price is $2,000.
