Scamp Decision

Did I miss it? Has anyone heard what Scamp had to say about the defects posted by a new owner a few weeks ago? Thought there would have been more information by now.

The trailer was delivered with the sink drain hose missing under the sink, and I think a water hose not connected. Parts were sent and viable solutions proffered and executed.

I read on the Scamp Yahoo group that they sent him the parts to fix his plumbing.

I was under the impression that there is a lot more to this than just the obvious lack of plumbing QC?

There is the bigger issue of the roof as I read it all.

There was the issue of the roof, "bigger" is the controversy.

Perhaps not as big a deal as the post title represented? Any mishap at pickup can be a big deal, but it's nice to know the manufacturer backs it up, wherever you are.
Scamp has a wonderful reputation for several decades. I wouldn't let one post change my mind if that's what I wanted.
I would, however, plan to stay overnight near the plant of any manufacturer if I were buying a new trailer today. We didn't, but luckily had no problems to work out.

I think this is good advice no matter the manufacturer. There may be something that's not a defect, but something you don't know how to use to it's best affect... like solar, etc. Pickup can be a time of stress, it's only when you are calm and start using the systems... that you've forgotten necessary procedures, etc. YMMV

Scamp happy story - part ii

Received call yesterday afternoon from Kent Eveland. After several emails, sending photo's and an inspection by a third party, he was convinced that the roof of this trailer has a flaw in it. He agreed to replace the trailer with a new one, deliver it and pick up the one that I now have. Just got off the phone with David, the plant manager, we went over the specs on the new one. It is scheduled to be completed near the end of Sep. At that time they will contact me to make arrangements for the delivery.

I am going to say this for the last time. The problems in this trailer have nothing to do with ac weight or normal design. There are other issues as well. Not going there because it appears my problem is being corrected. This company or no other company would be willing to take this type of corrective action if they were not convinced that this was a legitimate complaint.

Glad it all worked out. You apparently are getting what you should, and Scamp is looking good for taking ownership of the problem. Wishing the best for both parties.
