The Leech Lake Scamp Gathering at Federal Dam Campground on Leech Lake toured the Scamp factory in Backus, MN, on Wednesday, June 20, 2007.

(This is our first time posting pics. If it goes well, great! If not, well....)

Here's part of the group from 35 trailers getting together for the tour:

Your posts prompted me to go to the Scamp site to take a look. Interestingly, (unless I missed it) there are no floor plans and no interior views on the site. Seems a strange way to build an RV site.

Yes, there are floor plans. On the left click under trailers. Then click on the one you want information on. Then there is a place for more information on the right for each individual trailer.

If my cut and paste works this should bring up the floor plan for the 5th wheel. They really ought to have better pictures of the interiors.

From the looks of the factory they don't need to do a lot of advertising, they were quite busy building lots of trailers.

Glancing at the information for the 13 it looks like they still are providing very low weights. I think that weight would only be for the shell and frame and nothing inside or outside. Everything must be an option and adds weight.

Thanks for posting the photos Nancy - the tour looked interesting! What good stuff did people salvage from the scrap pile?

Jeanne,

I started the raid as I asked one of the employees where the dumpster was. I have been wanting a closet door cut out for a project between my 13 kitchen and the front bunk.

Instead of dumpster diving he took me to a scrap pile and helped me pull one out.

Soon other people doing the tour wanted pieces too, what for I don't know. The scraps were the cut outs from various doors in the Scamps.
