Scamp on ebay maybe fishy....

Hi! Here is the orginal ad for this 1978 Scamp for $1250 and I got an email saying it was sold. Now it shows up on ebay so maybe the buyer was just a flipper or maybe something else not sure just wanted to post this just in case.....

IF YOU ARE AN ILLINOIS RESIDENT TAX, TITLE, PLATES AND $45 PROCESSING IS DUE AT TIME OF PICK UP.
So the current seller is a dealer. They probably purchased it from the CL seller to flip it. The odd thing to me is that a dealer would have all the photos up when they opened the auction. The business about more photos half way through the auction is .... unusual.

I don't like that A/C unit.

I doubt that it is a scam, Paypal is very secure and they are requiring a Paypal account. The air conditioner looks bad and will require the new owner to find a window, unless they just don't care. somebody will buy it.

The trailer sits low on the tires
All outside covers and clearance lights missing
Door handle broken-see additional door lock
No interior pictures??
Close up shows badly faded and yellowed exterior gelcoat.

This price is probably close for a fix-er-upper .If you bid on this one then be prepared, I would imagine that it will need quite a bit of TLC, but might be a good platform for someone who can do all the necessary work to bring it back to life.

On Craigslist the original seller was asking $1250. I just hate to see that a dealer/flipper got it instead of somebody looking for a fixer-upper at a good price who would love it and enjoy it.

Well, I don't know what the dealer/flipper paid but the bids are only up to $710. Of course there's still 4 days left. It should be interesting to see what this goes for.

That Scamp isn't as bad as you all are making it out to be. The window and all of the lighting can be fixed for under $100.00. Bloomington is about 5 hours from me. Maybe?????? With a little love and minimal work, that is a $4000.00 trailer all day.

There you go Mark, It's not that bad. If you look at the pictures around the trailer, there's no other vehicles, I don't think it's a dealer. My Boler was on Craigslist, then it went to E bay I called the lady and got legitimate info from her and bought the trailer.

Since Speculation R Us...I'd bet the photos on ebay were on the original CL listing - lifted by the current seller.
Hard to imagine a private seller collecting taxes and facilitating registration

Not saying it's bad, just be ready to do some upgrades. Probably a very good deal for someone. Now there have been interior pictures added and it looks neat and clean there. Without these it just made me wonder why they had been left out. Bidding is now over $1,000.
