I'm thinking the owner of the Airstream actually polished it to give it the "chrome look". I know you can polish aluminum to a high degree to where it shines like chrome. Many classic car owners ( me included) have polished wheels that look like chrome!

Before weight distributing hitches, either overload springs or a tow dolly was needed. Impossible to back them up. Then somebody invented a tow dolly with two very close set wheels on a swivel so the trailer could be backed. In 1947 my parents towed a 1939 Kozy Koach from Florida to Michigan with a 1937 Ford 85 hp engine. We had a tow dolly.

Wow, that airstream is so sharp looking one can use it as a traveling mirror, the shine on it is impresive.
