Scamp Trailer layout question

Saw this Airstream, this weekend and the layout was the same as my 1983 13' Scamp. Do you think Scamp might have copied their layout when they made the scamps?
Overall nice looking package. All the chrome might be a hazard on the road for other drivers (sun glare).

I think trailer layout is relatively decided when the trailer is small. When you compare trailer layouts in the Scamp, Casita, small Airstream size they all pretty much seem the same.

I believe Scamp was a clone of Bolers. As Norm said, they are small and can only be put together so many ways. Airstream is the older manufacturer of TTs. Boler may have gotten the layout idea from Airstream.

What year was the Airstream? The Oldsmobile? Maybe '55/'56....No! Tags on the Olds says '53. Airstream, '60. Nice.

I like the looks of the rig. Especially the dolly-hitch setup. I saw something like it pull through Mammoth Campground in Aug. 2009. Someone towing a much larger TT.

It's always interesting to muse about different layouts. For me the present Scamp with side bath is pretty close to good. Changes I might consider if I owned the company would be to extend the side bathroom to the front, shortening the couch. I would then put the toilet in the eliminated couch area and make a wet shower where the bathroom is presently.

Second I would redesign the table so it was normally a table for two that could fold out to perform the bed bottom function. (We did this in a first order way that could esily be improved upon.)

Third I would take better advantage of the space available. We have added 6 pullout draws, 3 in unused space and 3 in difficult to reach places.

I wonder how many eggs are used by two or less people most of the time.

What's the idea behind the dolly? Take the tongue weight off the car?

Take the tongue weight off the car. Correct
but not legal in all states.

I think that many are the same is because there's not a lot of wiggle room for changing it around. The need to keep heavy appliances and water tanks close to the axle, the need to have the door either just behind or just in front of the wheel well, and etc. etc. all limit the amount you can do differently.

One also needs to keep in mind that there is more options for the 16' than for the 13'. Two different animals.

The Olds is a '53 Ninety Eight (had one a 2 door hardtop). And yes that dolly set up is interesting I would like to know more about the engineering behind it and if it improve towing dynamics such as sway and brake induced dive and also why it may not be allowed in some states or provinces. Perhaps they consider it the same as tandem towing (TV+RV+boat)? Which is allowed here in Alberta aslong as you don't excede a max length, that I can't remember right now.

There's several companies now with a spray system that get results similar to chrome (Gemini is one) that could be used on an egg body.

I'm thinking the owner of the Airstream actually polished it to give it the "chrome look". I know you can polish aluminum to a high degree to where it shines like chrome. Many classic car owners ( me included) have polished wheels that look like chrome!

Before weight distributing hitches, either overload springs or a tow dolly was needed. Impossible to back them up. Then somebody invented a tow dolly with two very close set wheels on a swivel so the trailer could be backed. In 1947 my parents towed a 1939 Kozy Koach from Florida to Michigan with a 1937 Ford 85 hp engine. We had a tow dolly.

Wow, that airstream is so sharp looking one can use it as a traveling mirror, the shine on it is impresive.
