Server was not responding to requests, we issued a restart and will be investigating the cause of this lockup once the server is back online.

The restart took no more than 3-5 minutes to complete.

Sorry for the Blink in Service.

We’ve just issued a restart for the server after it experienced a kernel panic. Once the server is back online we will be investigating the cause of this panic.

Turns out we’ve been getting an average of over 46 million hits a month and are pushing the way our quotas are set up on the server.

We've traced the problem which has affected our server in the last few days to what we believe is an issue with quotas in the current running kernel of our Red Hat 4 systems.

We will be updating kernels on these systems this evening. Thank you for your patience.

The kernel update will provide several important security and bugfix related items, one of which we believe is directly impacting and causing kernel panics within the confines of certain quota related activities. The server will be rebooted between 8 PM and 8:30 PM tonight PST, and the expected outage is 3-5 minutes.

Kernel is short for Colonel Sanders..

Update = replace the flypaper.

Bugfix = hopefully this will keep the bugs from falling into Colonel Sanders' coffee. When flys fallinto the Colonel's coffee he panics and doesn't get his daily quota of coffee.

Clear?

Ok, Mike... if you'll tell us what we do that makes the Kernels panic, we'll surely stop doing it. I didn't know they'd panic that easily!
