Greetings Happy Crampers!

Yesterday I was out in my front yard enjoying the sunshine whilst cutting blooming forsythia stems when I got buzzed by a hummingbird! Later in the day I see a guy in Bermuda shorts!

IS IT NOT SPRING?

OK, OK... so Spring Equinox is still a month away, but here on Whidbey ISland, WA, we've been enjoying an unusually mild winter. That puts happy thoughts of roadtrips, campfires, and meet-ups with dear friends in our heads!

Just to let you know that Simon and I are fine. Our first meet-up of the 2010 season is planned for the April "NOG" (Northern Oregon Gathering, aka "Non-organized Gathering"). Can't wait to get back in the saddle again!

Meantime, here's a link to a NY Times article about camping retirees, "RETIREES TRADE WORK FOR RENT AT CASH-POOR PARKS": http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/18/us/18campers.html

Cheers and Happy Cramping!
Sharen

We have had snow on the ground here in Virginia for a month. It has seldom gotten above freezing during the day and we are fed up!

We are also jealous of anyone living on Whidby Island.

Or ----- anywhere the temperature is over 60 degrees.

If you come to Minnesota for the winter don't forget to close your car doors when parked on the street after shopping.

hahahah....those doors were definitely closed when the snow filled it..look at the flat impressions on the snow. the windows may have been down..but i'd guess this was staged. snow blown in with a blower....ah, yes, the skeptic in me showing.....either way, glad it isn't my vehicle!

It was definitely a beautiful day up here. Sorry for the rest of you, well, not really. Got out and washed down the deck and wandered down to the water this afternoon.

Getting the trailer ready but have not decided when or where yet to the first trip of the year. Probably going to keep it short while we make sure everything si working order after the 3 month long repair job.

Dennis and I did our first spring camping trip last weekend. We had planned to go to Champoeg park but found it full when we arrived on Friday before 2 p.m. We then headed to Stubb Stewart where there were 2 campsites open. A trailer pulled in right behind us so the park was full before 5 p.m.

It was a beautiful weekend with a spot of rain at night. Dennis and Luna found a new trail nearby and had a great day while I attended a training at Portland Community College.

We are ready for the NOG!
