Oh Shirley and Keith, I feel so bad for you! Saying goodbye to your pet is, IMHO, as hard as saying goodbye to anyone you deeply love. Pet lovers understand and I'm glad you posted so you can get all the support and understanding you need from the wonderful people at the FGRV "village". Take all the support you need to grieve in your own way and in your own time.

I have lost many beloved pets over the years and each time I SWEAR I will NOT get another "baby" and have my heart broken so severely again -- and each time I eventually adopt another fur ball and I am madly in love once again! I always miss the past pets, but I also am amazed at how lucky I am to again have "The Best Dog in the World". I hope what YOU need comes to you in the perfect way and timing.

Keith and Shirley,

Our hearts go out to both of you. We love our dogs. We've lost several thru the years and each still holds a special place in our heart, but we always find room to fit in another. I'm sure there will be a new joy in your future.

Steve and Tali

Keith & Shirley,

I just saw your post about losing Jake. I just want to say how sorry I am! We have three sweet little Bichons that go everywhere with us.

I'm so sorry to hear about Jake's death, Keith & Shirley. We lost our "baby" 13 year old boxer/great Dane about 8 months ago. We also said, "No more dogs." Well, yesterday we adopted two adult Shih Tzu from the shelter. (Their owner was put into a nursing home.) May there be a time in your future when you two fall in love again with a fur-baby. *big hugs*

Nancy

Again, thanks for your thoughts and kind words. I'm the big old "tough guy", but I sure miss him. And, I sure hate to see Shirley so sad. The thing I keep reminding myself and Shirley of, is that Jake left us several months before we had to make the call. He just would not let either of us touch him, or play, are anything other than a walk. He loved that til the end. But he was really getting blind and deaf and had a lot of other problems. So, you do what you have to do.

Time will tell but I can tell you that if another guy ever comes into our lives, it will be another Bichon. He was the best.

Keith
