For a competition like at Effingham, a simple bumper hitch would probably suffice. That would allow the trailer to be attached and only require the strength to tow it about 200 yards very slowly to the show area. I know the double cab has the engine power to pull the small CT at least on level ground. Slow starts and stops wouldn't hurt the bumper hitch. Of course, a full duty hitch could be installed under the engine, too, but would require a specialty hitch, thus costing more. I've wondered about the best way to do this on our single cab, since I still want the ability to drop the engine when necessary. If the hitch was bolted on rather than welded, I could just remove it when necessary to do engine work out of the vehicle.
By the way... great looking set-up. Wonderful paint
work and I'm envious of the smooth finish on the VW. Ours has lots of dings from an angry former owner.
