Rocky Creek COE Park, Lake Seminole, TX

We're at another COE park on Lake Seminole, TX. The water level here is down about 6 feet out of 280' as a result of this years lack of early rain. The lake is recovering and most of the local ranches are green.

Somerville Lake, TX

Ron.

High of 61F, Low of 41F for tonight. Generally sunny.

Today during dinner a herd of deer, counted 17 but there were more, were between us and the water for an hour, young ones prancing about, older ones eating away. It is a wonderful spot.

We're going to stay here for 3 days and than head off to another COE park. We're hoping to get into the Fiberglass Rally in the hill country near Johnson City, we're on the waiting list.

We are enjoying your trip, beginning to feel like we know you two. We did our 4th little travel trip in our new(to us) this past weekend. Practicing for a big trip like you are on....someday! Safe travels and keep the journal and photos coming. We went to our nephew's wedding in Fredericksburg, Texas this past October...fun town with lots to see and do and eat...German restaurants galore. Also, Marble Falls has the Blue Bonnet Cafe...amazing pies. Jane

The Blue Bonnet is on the list, we love great pies. One of our goals is a great chicken fried steak, Johnson City is supposed to have the best place for them....

We like to drive the 'off roads'. We were surprised in the greater Livingston, TX area by all the logging trucks. We didn't realize eats Texas was a pic logging areas. Ginny loves lumbering operations, particularly saw mills. We've driven by huge plabts all across the country but the biggest one we've seen is a Georgia Pacific plant north of Livingston on a little farm road...

You never know what you'll find.....

Canyon Lake, Potter's Creek COE

At another COE park for four days, hoping to go to the Hill-a-Palooza Fiberglass Rally, hoping to move up on their waiting list. Until them we'll be here exploring the area.

Seminole State Park, Comstock, TX

We're in a rather small TX State Park, pretty high on a hill with long distance views. Unfortunately, though they have wifi, I'm not able to send a picture to my Notebook with my cell phone. My phone's smart, but not smart enough. Time for a new generation.

This is one of the first places in the USA where we have not had a cell signal nor Verizon wireless service. The park amazingly provides parkwide wireless. It's a rather dry desert kind of place. Tomorrow we will take a guided hike to see the petroglyphs.

Picture to follow. A high of 82 today...

Addition. We had our worse gas mileage of the trip driving into a strong head wind all day, averaging 18 mpg. At the same time the gas was the most expensive in the literally one pump town of Comstock, TX. I did read today that we can expect to get to $6 a gallon.

We're in the East Bank campground at Lake Seminole on the FL/GA/AL border. Norm and Ginny are right. It's a wonderful park!

Sharon,

We've been in TX for a month and have spent half our time in Corp parks. Fantastic campgrounds and great prices. For the last four nights we've been in a Texas State Park. Just as wonderful.

The "Escape Pod" 1972 Cloud

I am adding my rig to the mix. This was taken right before I took it on its maiden voyage last summer. In the background is my not so fiberglass "Mother Ship" that I leave in a permanent spot on a lake and live in most of the warmer months. The "Escape Pod" is my mobile unit and probably one of the best things I have purchased in a long long long time. I can't wait for spring.
